Guest guest
dandavat pranama sri sri guru gaurangau jayatah Haribol! I have a question about the Vedic conception of moon phases: In my understanding, western science speculates that the phases of the moon are caused by the sun's rays and resulting shadows moving across the face of the moon as these two heavenly bodies move along their respective paths through space. However, I have also heard that Vedic science has a different conception of this. I have heard that lunar eclipses are caused by the planet Rahu, but are the moon's regular phases caused by Rahu also? When the sun and moon are in the sky together, I for one have never seen the rays of the sun line up even close to the shape of the moon, and so I have serious doubts as to the validity of western science's attempt at explanation. Does anyone here know the scriptural explanation? Thank you. Haribol! Your aspiring servant, Acyuta Ananda dasa
