Guest guest
i dunno exactly. but i will say my view according to my dumb mind. Govinda is general name of Vishnu. it applies to all avatars. but name Govinda is mostly associated with "Lord Venkatesha, Lord krishna". i havent seen Govinda nama gettin associated with rama, narashima much. Heres a note of a song : "Sri Krishna Govinda hare muraare, hey vasudeva ......." the above song signifies association of govinda nama with krishna much than other avatars. hers other song: "Srinivasa govinda sri venkatesha govinda, govinda hari govinda, sri venkatesha govinda" her we see govinda is associated with Lord Venkatesha. mostly, govinda nama is associated with "Lord Venkatesha". if i had committed mistakes in this message, i request vaishnavas to correct me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif JAI SHRI KRISHNA
Guest guest
govinda is a name of sri krishna GO(cow)VINDA(who is protecting).. but it seems to me also that this name is given to a form of sri vishnu i do not know anyting about a japa prayer with govinda's name.. surely there's no harm in chanting "GOVINDA", but a mantra is completely effective if, coming from a tradition, parampara' connected to krishna, is given by a pure spiritual master if this kind of mantra meditation is traditional, given by acharyas and not our creation it is surey to chant and brings the pratictioneer in the spiritual world chant hare krishna and be happy chant govinda and be happy
