We are all effected by MAYA, which is everthing other then GOD. If we cannot get rid of our lust, anger, pride, advirce, jealousy in our daily lives. We are so depended on these things as our GUIDE in our life that we forget to see the Univesal turth that God is there. The truth is to realize GOD. To do so one must think at a higher level. Meaning that one must always in situations that lead to action, must always put GOD before that action. One must try to get deattached and only realize the greatness of GOD. But when one attempts to really realize god he will need to give up his vices of lust, pride, jealousy, anger... and become free from MAYA. Eeach one of us must try to live a life of simplicity. Try to eraticate these vices in your life. You will then and only then feel the thruth of closeness with GOD. Follow a religion with true faith and do as commended. Let us not agrue who is the true GOD or not... because this is not the first step in realizing GOD. It is to eriticate vices in your life which which deter you from making path towards GOD. Also when one contempletes on GOD Greatness one feels free from this material bondage. If this feeling is kept in every action that one does he or she will not be affected by its action or results, and life will pass as exicitance of light. In essence this is what Lord Shree Swaminaryan has addresed in Vachanmrut. One must read and read and read to holy scriptures to realize the esssence of GODs GREATNESS. There for right now your goal and mine is to read, contemplete, and follow the nitya niams that LORD has installed for everyone. And Greatness of GOD will be realized when one has CONTROL over this FIVE SENSES of enjoyment. ONE MUST NOT DETER FROM THE PATH OF GOD, if one wants to realize this greatness. A devotee of GOD must never feel sad beacase sadness is of the Material world and one who lives in GODS words will never be effect by MAYA. If we cannot even control of sexual organs when we see a object of enjoyment, then who are we to question the Reality of GOD and GODS greatness. ONe must get rid of FIVE SENSES of enjoyment and mediate on GOD( which ever GOD you might worship), just like great sages and see where one penense leads one till.
