subroto
If I worship krishna is it possible for me to worship lakshmi, durga and kamdev as well. Can i chant mantras for more than one god or do I have to pick one? thanks
Ganeshprasad
Jai Ganesh It is best to worship one istdeva, but it is never wrong to seek help from other devatas they are all divine, who help us in our endeavors to reach the chosen goal. Jai Shree Krishna
maadhav
yes, but it is like taking a dozen different medicines simultaneously from different doctors for only one desease. it cannot help. whom you trust? and what these doctors would think of you? therefore, the shastras alwasy recommend one ishta deva for worship. and then you can respect all the rest. tulasidas ji once was invited to a krishna temple. so, he went there and prayed to krishna: kaha kahu chabi aapaaki bhale birojo nath tulasi mastak taba name jaba dhanush bana lo haath. basically he prayed, "O krishna, you look beautiful, but my nistha is with rama. so, if you pick up bow and arrow (the weapons of rama) then i would bow down to you." and lo! the moorti suddenly changed into the form or rama. tulasidasa fell dandavat with tears of love in eyes and smile of joy. barney
Embrace whoever your heart says so. It does not matter if it's Krishan, Vishnu, Sreenivasa, Shiva, Arthnashrevar, Durga, Ambal, Ganesha or Murugan. They are one and one in all. Some ignorant would say Vishnu is the Supreme or Krishna is the supreme or even Shiva or Gurga is the Supreme. It's one single power that manifest in many. It's because of the division we are compled to pick this and that. If you go to Shiva or Aman temples you would see all the other deities in their respective places but I wonder if it is so in Krishna's or Lecthuminarayana's. People who ask such question are sonfused because of wrong interpretation of the scriptures. That is what the Muslims and Christians face today. So, do not be confused and follow your heart as your atman is the best advicer.
Logical
Jai Shri Ganesh! Is it mentioned in our shastras Or is it logical that we should worship First & last avtaras of God Who maintains as Lord Narayana or Lord Vishnu, others avtaras being only respected. If so which avtara is to be worshiped in present age--Lord Krishna or Lord Kalki?
Logical
Should it not be according to the mentioned qualities of any God, Goddess, angel or devil or otherwise to whom we should worship for our required purposes? Creation, maintainance & destruction being three qualities-- Satvic, rajsic, tamsic Gunas are also there for deciding the basis. However there can be constitutions(astrological or otherwise) which can also decide accordingly. But, one most basic & prime God(Prameshwar) & Goddess(Premshwari) can be worshiped by all( should be but not sure to say if justified or not for the current age). maadhav
the gurus and sadhus over milleniums have not worshipped non human form avataras. so general tradition is to worship rama, and krishna. kalki has not come yet. narashmha is worshipped becaue of its half human form. Logical
Thanks, Do you mean to say that no other Lord Vishnu avtara is in human form except Rama & Krishna? Btw, is there any concept/understanding/logic to follow last Avtara's recommendations instead of all?
maadhav
technically, there is no contradiction in the messages of different avataras. some have difficulty understanding krishna. so they like rama, and vice versa. pick any one of these two. my guess is that you would like krishna more. so study gita well. Logical
Is it evident that temples of old avtaras are usuaaly more effected to voilances etc. Consider in Parlaahd time & now. Lord Krishna temples seen to be never effected. Why so? Basic concept of all avtara may be same resembling to Basic God(Lord Narayana/Vishnu here) but there can be some variations due to age/time/environmental/social/natural/region...changes & which last avtara incorporate in his recommendations. The differance in avtaras may just be basic & gross or micra or macro levels.Alike Old healing therepies may be replaced/rejected & Newone comes in more existance.
