Hari OM:

Today we are seeing in newspapers and TV (particularly the "modern" english versions) topics like "God-fearing Hindus", this looks quite amusing.

Fear- we should fear some living things which can cause us harm -Snakes, Tigers, Thieves, Dacoits, etc.,

Love- We should love some living things which can help us or would remain netural-Parrots, Peacocks, Parents, Teachers, etc.,

In respect of others it is Protect against (Thunder, Storm,...) or Enjoy (sun rise, flower...)

Now should we "Fear" or "Love" God (Respect is also a form of Love only)

it is ok when Abrahmic religions tell "God-FearingGod-Willing" etc., since they think that God is a Person who can either cause considerable damage or give considerable gains.

Hindus generally treat God as their teacher or friend, so "God-Loving" Hindu should be the correct term.

even more funny i think is the term "God-Fearing" Buddhist, there is no God concept in Buddhism, i wonder whom that Buddhist is feared of?

defintly all religions should embrace a god-loving concept over a god-fearing one. god would not want us to fear himadn be scared of him. however, i do understand the abrahamic neccessity for 'god fearing' since instillment of fear was a major aspect of the culture that the abrahamic relgions grew out of. It is their way of respect.

whether we talk of vishnu, shiva, brahman, allah, christ, god, yaweh or any other name for the supreme being. god would not want us to fear him. a neccessity to instill fear in others is due to one's own feelings of insecurity, inferiority, and fear of losing influence. unless one admits that god exhibits these feelings then he cannot logically say that god wants us to fear him.

It's easy. The Abrahamic Faiths (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are God-fearing religions.

Eastern faiths such as Hinduism and Sikhism are God-loving religions.
