Same Gothra people are said to have common origin. Baing Shaivite or Vashnavite doesn't matter as that is personal choice. There is no reference if you are asking for one. YOu may ask any of your family Purohit/Pundit. Having said that, in modern times some people do not mind marrying within same gothra making sure that there is no familial link whatsoever with the other party.
