poohbearlh
I need to find out who the following are, if you have a link to a picture and/or explanation about please let me know. Are they gods, deities, goddesses, etc. Not understanding the differences/is there a difference? I visited a temple and these are present in the temple. Does this imply anything? 1. Lord Ganapathi 2. Lord Dattatreya 3. Anagha Devi 4. Lord Shiva I'm sorry as you can tell I am not Hindu, but I am trying to gain a greater understanding of this religion. Guest guest
Hare Krishna, " if you have a link to a picture and/or explanation about please let me know." http://hinduism.iskcon.com/practice/304.htm 1. Lord Ganapathi 2. Lord Dattatreya 3. Anagha Devi 4. Lord Shiva 1. Ganesh is the demigod that destroys obstacles. He is worshipped before one approaches any other deity. 2. Dattatreya = form of Lord Shiva as original spiritual master 3.Anagha Devi = probably form of Durga devi (feminine aspect of Lord Shiva) - she keeps the souls enamoured by the material energy 4. Lord Shiva = Original form of Lord Shiva - destroys all the worlds, and is extremely merciful to those who approach him. My guess is this is a Saiva temple (focusses worship on Lord Shiva). This is ok if he is worshipped as the highest devotee of Lord Vishnu. Your aspiring servant.
