Guest guest
The Abrahmic Religions Christianity, Judaism & Islam are all World Religions. Buddhism too appeals to many East Asian peoples. But it seems Hinduism is a Religion based only on Native Races of the sub continent without universal appeal or logic. Is Hinduism simply a grand version of Native Pagan/Ancestor Worship as is done by Aborgines, Native American Indians and some African Tribes? Guest guest
Hinduism is one of the major religions in the world, and it is NOT a pagan religion meant for natives or any such thing. Most people do not have a true conception of Hinduism, as they are taught the wrong things about it. It is NOT a polytheistic faith, nor is it an easy religion to describe. Hinduism is an umbrella term encompassing a wide number of contrasting beliefs because it is believed that all of them at least have one facet of Truth and Truth is not easily definable. Buddhism and Hinduism are extremely similar, and differ only in name. Some of the schools of thought in Hinduism and Buddhism are so similar that they are easily interchangeable without any true distinctions aside from labels between them. As for Hinduism being illogical, you must be really misinformed to believe this. Hinduism does not require faith like the Abrahamic religions do. One can investigate the truths of Hinduism by meditation on the Self or performing yogic practices. Yes, there are many components in Hinduism that are rooted in ancestor worship and such, but that is not common to all schools of thought in Hinduism. And who are you to presume that ancestor worship is illogical in the first place? From my perspective, it is the Abrahamic religions that have only ONE book and ONE prophet for each religion to follow, that is extremely illogical and lacks universal appeal. These religions require blind faith, and truly make the followers of that religion into blind sheep. Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism are only labels, whereas there are a multitude of schools of thought between them that can easily be mistaken for any one of those religions I've just listed. In any case, the number of Hindus far outranks the number of Buddhists if you really want to get into the numbers game. And it would be your great stupidity to think that the religion with the most number of devotees is the religion with the most Truth in it. Guest guest
but not exclusively. There are many Hindus who propagate the misconception that only an Indian can be Hindu, so many who want to be Hindus instead call themselves Buddhists but they're Buddhists in name only and Hindus in their actual faith. I've seen many Americans in Hindu temples as well, and there are Hindu temples all over the world, such as in Russia, America, and England for instance. Hinduism is NOT only practiced in India. Guest guest
Hinduism has a strong presence worldwide. This is not new, the movement started in the 50´s and 60´s in USA. Maybe it´s not as noisy as other religions, but hinduism has a great presence in the west. See the Yoga, Ram Dass, the disciple of Swami Muktanada... only to mention a few. I prefer a Mahatma Ghandi type of hinduism.
