maram
i will like to thank in appreciation for the care showered by viji and melvin...it feels good to know there are people out there who truly care...but what saddened me was...words that were spoken by this two people were more acquired in context. it is a belief that Hare Krishna mantra is THE MAHA MANTRA...i dont deny its greatness...but that doesnt make it THE MOST...or rather the ultimate mantra...there are equally great mantras...and great masters from various sects have in their time mentioned theirs to be the greatest...ego has always played its role well, even among our mystics...but i remember reading the gita which states that the soul wthin every body is the same...if that be true than all sound must be equally sound...SA is equally as important as GA...calling a mantra as MAHA MANTRA just because Caitanya Mahaprabu said so doesnt make others lesser...it was his experience...and its fair for devotees of his teaching to belief so...but annoiting it as the ultimate is a bit too bias...we had great masters...even before his time...even later perhaps...one man cannot define the ultimate...he might be right in someway...but following everyword blindly only makes the followers blind...im sure mahaprabu exemplified his life to show man the path towards bhakti yoga...not define a system...each man is an ocean...where lord brahma/vishnu/shiva/ resides...please...there is such a phase known as evolution...it is here to stay...dont define and limit its potency by just acquired thoughts....aum hariharaya namaha.... viji_53
Dear maram, Hope you agree that Narayana is the Paramodevata. He took many avatars. In those avatars Rama avatar & Krishna avatars are important avatars for they teach us how to live & what to do. In Gita also Krishna says He is every thing & he who tries to attain Him attains Him & those who strive to attain other devatas attain them. In Kamasika ashtotram Desika says to Lord Narasimha, If You decide to protect one devotee no other devata can prevent it; at the same time if you decide not protect one ,other devatas can not protect him. So the Ultimate Supreme personality of Godhead is Narayana. Narasimha,or Krishna or Rama are other names of same Narayana.. Chaitanya Mahaprabu Combined the Names of Rama & Krishna & gave that mantra. In Tulsidas Ramayana Thulsidas says Ramse Adhk Ramdasa. That is devotee of Rama is superior to Rama. Like that ISKCON people take that mantra as Maha mantra. Chant any name of Hari, you will be taken care in this age of Kaliyuga. We should appreciate people like Melvin who is not hindu by birth has tremendous faith in Krishna. In India which is the land of Yogabhoomi people are becoming westernised. Brahmins wearing thread(yagjopavit) are eating meat etc. where as ISKCON people are giving up all bad qualities. See only good & be optimistic & chant Hari's names in any form. maram
dear viji, appreciate your polite reply...but u seem to have missed my point in the discussion. i understand how the mantra was coined but my question is this...why must it be Narayan who is the "Ultimate Supreme Personality of Godhead", what i see in your belief is simply words spoken by masters of the vaishnava principle. you can quote hundred of scriptures...but my question is...why only this path...as claimed by your belief...dear viji, you speak of kaliyuga...do you know, kaliyuga appears in every man's life...that the day when your senses loses its balance...the day when your muscles loses its grip...the day when your mind is unable to will its thoughts...that,that day...kaliyuga reigns. ...and the reason why Narayana is essential in this period is simply because he is the symbol of our heart...that Narayan(heart) lying(anantha sayanam) on Adhishesha(arteries&veins)...with the aorta(Goddess Laksmi) is the last effort that can keep this body in a functional mode. I fully to the fact that He Narayana is essential...but please remember...as much as the heart is needed to sustain life...so is the intestines,kidney,bladder,lungs...etc...and if you think the heart is the most important organ in the body...that Lord Narayana is the sum of the wholeness...please look into the intestines...they are more powerful than all the other, even more powerful than the heart heart...so important...that they can shake the very balance in our bio-rhythmic state. Brother viji, ive got to go...take care and we will meet again...bye
viji_53
Dear maram, Why do you think only heart is Narayana. The entire body including all organs is Narayana. He is Supreme God. Krishna says in Gita He is everything. If you have faith in Gita you will have no doubt about it. If you want to attain God(salvation) you surrender to HIM. If you want to take long route to attain Salvation pray to other gods. Krishna says that also in Gita. If you want to come to Me surrender to Me alone. Fix your mind to Him & surrender to Him alone you will attain Him. I know Kali yuga appears many times. In this age of Kali yuga the easiest way to attain God is recite Narayana The Paramo Devata's Name. You have no restrictions for doing so. Recite His name anytimes & anywhere. It is not my belief alone it is The Truth. For your information I am a lady. With the Best wishes. viji
