shvu
Hello All, From experience I know that Devotees generally oppose anything that goes against their beliefs. It is not what they wish to read or think about. Most devotees participate in forums to interact with like-minded people and discuss Devotional topics, which happens to be Sat-sangha [Good association]. If someone comes up with opposing ideas, devotees may think that it is the opposite of Sat-sangha to have such discussions. However it is very healthy to do so. It is like a person swimming. If a current tries to pull him down, he will swim faster. Similarly when devotees encounter people who think differently, I have seen that their own belief comes to the surface and becomes more intense. Also in my opinion talking to people who agree with all our views, all the time, can get to be monotonous. So any variation will be refreshing. For all we know, even a person like me may develop devotion in a few hundred births from now, and may even attain Vaikunta in a few more hundred births. [based on the assumption that there is such a thing as reincarnation, Liberation and Vaikunta] So don't worry people. Don't get upset when you encounter people with opposing ideas. Even that has it's positive points. 'Everthing happens for our own good' is a nice attitude to have in life. Cheers
ggohil
Yes, I inclined to agree with you. (PS if you do get to Vaikunta have a little word with him and ask him to be little more resonable)
shvu
Unfortunately, I am not likely to get there until several more births [if ever]. Which means, I would have forgotten all this.
viji_53
Dear Shvu, There is nothing wrong in opposing. Even our Vedas allowed questions raised by Muni Jabali. All the azvars who have seen God ,their songs ,temples which they visited & did mangalasan do exist even today. So you can not say God is faith alone.Nalayiradivyaprabandam & 106 Vaishnava divya desangal are proof for the existence of God. So many saints like Meerabai, Tulsidas, Ramadas, Purandaradas, Tyagaraja, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa & Chaitanya maha Prabu, left their writngs as proof of God for us. It is not that easy to see God . You can see God only you have no attachment for anything, when your desires are nil, when all the vasanas must have left you. The epics like Ramayana & Mahabharata, the places involved , the temples, are best example to say God Rama & Krishna existed. The Ramesvaram bridge, Maturea, Brindavan, Ayadya etc prove that Lord Rama & lord Krishna were there in our holy land India. You should be nirgunan ie You should be beyond all 3 (satva, rajo & tamo )gunas, to realize God. You should overcome all negative qualities to see God. By chanting His names we can experience change in our manners(gunas). If we do not find any change in our gunas, we are not all progressing in the spiritual path. By chanting His names first our tamo guna, then rajo gunas will disappear. We will become satvik. That also should go & we should become nirgunan to see God face to face. Faith is required to realize God but faith alone will not bring realisation. You need certain efforts also to see God. In this Kali yuga chanting His names will make you progress in the spiritual path. For that you need both Faith & effort. HariBhol!
