Plants consume oxygen for respiration all the time not only at night. But, in the day time, they give more oxygen than they take. Not only that, in the day time, they consume carbon dyoxide for photosynthesis. If, from air, carbon dyoxide is taken, then definitely the percentage of oxygen will increase.

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use chlorophyll, with the aid of light energy, to convert carbon compounds, and other nutrients into sugars. These sugars provide energy for the plant's growth. As photosynthesis requires light, this process can only occur during the day. So, in the night, plants only consume oxygen and not carbon dyoxide.
