Lovelyn2000
I was wondering if anyone had info on whether the Gita supports evolution or if it supports the first man/first woman theory. Does anyone know for sure?
Jahnava Nitai Das
The Gita and the Vedic scriptures in general have an altogether different view of the creation of the universe, one that accepts evolution of consciousness and evolution of matter, but rejects evolution of species. In summary, according to the Vedas all matter originates in sound (the pranava or "Omkara"). Do to the influence and interaction of spirit (through the glance of God, i.e. Maha Vishnu), this primordial matter transforms into all elements and objects of sense perception, resulting in the material universes.
