"O friend of the fallen!"

The following two verses are found in the Stavamala by Rupa Goswami, but do not belong to any specific stava or song. The first one sounds familiar and perhaps is not even from the Stavamala, but is there by mistake. It is a nice unconditional surrender type verse, like verse 8 of Sikshastakam.

 

viracaya mayi daNDaM dIna-bandho dayAM vA

gatir iha na bhavattaH kAcid anyA mamAsti |

nipatatu zatakoTir nirbharaM vA navAmbhas

tad api kila payodaH stUyate cAtakena ||1||

 

O friend of the fallen! Punish me or be kind to me!

Whatever you do, I have no refuge other than you.

Whether the cloud emits thunderous lightning or fresh rain,

it is always adored by the chataka bird.

 

prAcInAnAM bhajanam atulaM duSkaraM zRNvato me

nairAzyena jvalati hRdayaM bhakti-lezAlasasya |

vizvadrIcIm aghahara tavAkarNya kAruNya-vIcIm

AzA-bindUkSitam idam upaity antare hanta zaityam ||2||

 

When I hear of the unequalled achievements

of past masters in devotion,

my heart burns with hopelessness,

for I am lazy when it comes to worshiping You.

Then, O destroyer of sin, when I hear of Your mercy,

which washes to every corner of the universe,

some drops of hope enter my heart

and cool the fires that burn there.

How could Rupa have known that his verses would travel through time and touch the hearts of the lazy, hopeful aspirants scattered through-out the globe?

prabhavati go-gopa-gopikA-muktyai?

 

"There may be other incarnations of the lotus-eyed Lord; they are all-auspicious. But who other than Lord Krishna appeared to deliver the cows, cowherds, and gopis?"

Perhaps, you are familiar with this verse:

The parts in bold don't scan. The last line comes from Bhagavatam 11.8.44, spoken by Pingala. Where did you get them?

I am thinking that Blessed Self would have being familiar with same but is not being here at these forum.

It is surprising to see the socalled 'Raganuga' devotees are unfamiliar with this sublime verse. I am sure, Pandita Ananta dasa babaji might have mentioned it somewhere in his books.<font color="fefefe">
