animesh
A speech usually starts with "ladies and gentle men". Why don't they ever say "gentle ladies and gentle men"? Is it impossible for a lady to be gentle?

This is not the same as saying `women and men` since it denotes certain noble qualities. Besides, women naturally become ladies in the presence of gentle men, don't they?
