Confectionary giant Cadbury has apologized for an advertisement that compared the disputed Kashmir region to a chocolate that “you’d love to share but won’t”.

The ad in a newspaper in Bombay, India, featured a map highlighting the boundaries of the nation’s Jammu and Kashmir state the Indian-controlled part of a region both India and Pakistan claim.

Members of India’s ruling political party accused the company of trivializing the issue. “It was not in good taste,” said Vinod Tawde of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Cadbury India issued a written apology. “In case sentiments have been hurt, we sincerely apologize” it said.
