theist
I find this quality of art to be amazing and aspiring. The ISKCON group has produced some amazing works. I also like Sharmas Krsna artwork. Krsna says:"I am the ability in man..."
Gauracandra
Agree. These paintings are a revolution in devotional artwork. There are so many styles its amazing. I think traditionally Vaisnava artwork has had a regional style. Rajasthan has a style, Orissa has a style etc… But within a region, I believe the styles remain pretty much the same. There is a certain orthodoxy in style, a restrictiveness. I think one of the great contributions of Iskcon was to radically paint outside the lines. It was likely because Westerners brought a Western vision of Vaisnava culture and a Western vision of art (colors, composition, medium). I understand that Russian devotees have developed another very unique Vaisnava art style.
