Guest guest
talking to some of the advaitins, i got a feeling that worship of vasudeva etc. is only for fools - at least as per sankara. but sankara in His commentary to verse 2.61 says that a jivan mukta is fixed in the lord. if the lord, the innermost self is merely an illusion according to sankara, how is it that He says that a liberated person who has realized the Self would still fix His mind on the lord. Manni
Because in the Advaitya philosophy one must move from dualism to non-dualism. One cannot believe that the inner reality is actually God (formless and nemless) until that person can fix his/her mind and heart on a physical form and build a foundation of bhakti therefrom. It's kind of like learning to walk before learning to run. Advaitins believe that you can only understand the relationship between oneself and God (which are ultimately the same for Advaitins) by moving from dualistic stand-point.
