Guest guest
Some may say : Oh! No.. not another guru's questions. Trust me this one is slightly different. It just came to my attention. I have been trying to understand but nothing seems to make sense. Perhaps some enlightened soul could explain it to me: Initiated by the power of the guru's thought. What does this actually means? As we are aware that with the cyber revolution, there are greater opportunity for us to communicate with Guru's not only from India but from all over the world. I have friends who said that they met their guru via the internet. Communicate with them for sometime thereafter went to India to meet up with the Guru. Well that is fine. But what about those who will never have the chance of going to India or too poor to make the trip. Can we be initiated by the net, with the view camp and the teleconferencing facilites, it is possible right? or wrong?
Guest guest
I think it would be a good idea. Especially when you consider that not everyone lives near a temple. Plus, SP did make some innovations himself by doing so via tape recording. The technology is given by God, so why not use it in his service in this way? theist
Isn't the will of the guru to accept someone as his disciple the all important thing and not the process of how that acceptance is acknowledged? Let's remember though that Srila Prabhupada sought the assistance of his temple presidents etc. who knew that person face to face for a recommendation before he sent any tape or letter. Guest guest
I still believe that it is a good idea for those who would follow guru to have an option for initiation. Especially those who are too poor to travel or who do not live near a temple or preaching center. And I'm not convinced physical presence is necessary either. Guru is not mundane...guru does not need to see us physically to know our heart or desire. Guru could know us through phone conversations, letters, and even email. Of course, I'm just a neophyte..not a scholar or even the perfect Vaisnava. I'm just some guy who has been trying to follow Prabhupada since 1983, albeit poorly.
