Gauracandra
I bought the last CD by George Harrison titled ‘Brainwashed’. Various reviews I’ve read commented on how it was a very sad CD, while other reviews suggest that this sadness might be our projections onto the music (given that George passed away). I’m not sure which is true. To me it was a very mellow, perhaps melancholy folk rock. It was very pleasant to listen to, funny at times, but you could also find yourself falling into sadness. Again, given that George has passed away, and since Jaya Radhe just passed on, you can listen to the music, and it makes you think about life. That’s right – the lyrics actually have a deeper meaning. Most of the songs (though not all) are about philosophy. The title of the CD is Brainwashed, and features some crash test dummies holding up a television. The titles of the songs are: Any Road P.2. Vatican Blues Pisces Fish Looking For My Life Rising Sun Marwa Blues Stuck Inside A Cloud (can only) run so far Never Get Over You Devil + The Deep Blue Sea Rocking Chair in Hawaii Brainwashed My favorite thus far is ‘Stuck Inside A Cloud’. It’s a simple song, with a nice though melancholy melody. Lyrics follow: Stuck Inside A Cloud Never slept so little Never smoked so much Lost my concentration I could Even lose my touch Talking to myself Crying out loud Only I can hear me I’m stuck inside a cloud I made some exhibition I lost my will to eat The only thing that matters to me is to Touch your lotus feet Talking to myself Crying out loud Only I can hear me I’m stuck inside a cloud Talking to myself Crying out loud Only I can hear me And I’m stuck inside a cloud Talking to myself Crying out loud Only I can hear me I’m stuck inside a cloud Never been so crazy But I’ve never felt so sure I wish I had the answer to give Don’t even have the cure Just talking to myself crying as we part Knowing as you leave me I also lose my heart Talking to myself crying as we part Knowing as you leave me I also lose my heart Perhaps I’ll type up all the lyrics for you guys to read. Here is another good one: Looking For My Life Oh Lord, won’t you listen in to me now Oh Love, I got to get me back To you somehow I never knew that life was loaded I’d only hung around birds and bees I never knew that things exploded I only found it out when I was down Upon my knees Looking for my life, looking for my life Oh boy, you’ve no idea what I’ve been through Oh Lord, I feel so stuck that I can’t get to you Had no idea that I was heading Toward a state of emergency I had no fear where I was treading I only found it out when I was down Upon my knees Looking for my life Caught up on me with intensity Had no idea where I was heading I only found it out when I was down Upon my knees Looking for my life, looking for my life Oh boys you’ve no idea what I’ve Been through Oh Lord, I got to get back somehow to you I never knew that life was loaded I only hung around birds and bees I never knew that things exploded I only found it out when I was down Upon my knees Looking for my life I never got any GCE’s I never knew that things exploded I only found it out when I was down Upon my knees Looking for my life, looking for my life Looking for my life

Gauracandra
Any Road Oh I’ve been traveling on a boat and a plane In a car on a bike with a bus and a train Traveling there traveling here Everywhere in every gear But oh Lord we pay the price with a Spin of a wheel – with a roll of a dice Ah yeah you pay your fare And if you don’t know where you’re going Any road will take you there And I’ve been traveling through the dirt And the grime From the past to the future through the Space and the time Traveling deep beneath the waves – in Watery grottoes and mountainous caves But oh Lord we’ve got to fight With the thoughts in the head with the dark And the light No use to stop and stare And if you don’t know where you’re going Any road will take you there You may not know where you came from May not know who you are May not have even wondered how You got this far I’ve been traveling on a wing and a prayer By the skin of my teeth by the breadth of a hair Traveling where the four winds blow With the sun on my face – in the ice And the snow But oooeee it’s a game Sometimes you’re cool, sometimes You’re lame Ah yeah it’s somewhere And if you don’t know where you’re going Any road will take you there But oh Lord we pay the price With the spin of the wheel with the roll of The dice Ah yeah, you pay your fare And if you don’t know where you’re going Any road will take you there I keep traveling around the bend There was no beginning, there is no end It wasn’t born and never dies There are no edges, there is no sides Oh yeah, you just don’t win It’s so far out – the way out is in Bow to God and call him Sir But if you don’t know where you’re going Any road will take you there
Gauracandra
P.2. Vatican Blues Gazed at the ceiling from below A splendid Michelangelo Filled my heart with delight Last Saturday night Arrived believing from home Climbed every step inside St. Peter’s Dome Claustrophobic and ex-Catholic Last Saturday night Now how come nobody really noticed Puff of white smoke knocked me out The truth is hiding, lurking, banking Things they do at night It’s quite suspicious to say the least Even mentioned it to my local priest One Our Father, three Hail Marys Each Saturday night I wish somebody would tell me That it’s only a show I’ll confess, own up, let’s face it In my concrete tuxedo Its quite suspicious to say the least While mentioning it to my local priest One Our Father, three Hail Marys Each Saturday night One Our Father, three Hail Marys Each Saturday night One Our Father, three Hail Marys Each Saturday night
Guest guest
I am crying along with George right now as I am listening to 'Stuck Within a Cloud' as he sings of the lonelines of this material world and longing for Krishna's lotus feet. Pratyatosa Dasa
Does anyone know what the GCE's are that George refers to in the song, 'Looking for my Life'? I think that it means "Graduate and Continuing Education". Example: "Advanced GCEs and the courses they lead on to" (http://www.bradford.ac.uk/external/prospectus/ug/table.php).
