Guest guest
clearly you are not meant to understand these things, what is obvious becomes hidden, what is illogical becomes logical. If i were you i would first try and understand the basics, then you can understand the higher things. until you can see as Srila Prabhupada and Sadasiva stated, that Radha and Krishna are one person, identical, then all of your attempts to understand the meaning of rasa tattva will be useless and detrimental. anadi
rasa can only be between different people, rasa cannot exist between one person and her different extensions Everything is Krsna's extensions as saktiman tattva and Radhika's extensions as sakti tattva , and transformation of that as the jada jagat world. Guest guest
Shiva says, Radha and Krishna are the same person, rasa between them is impossible, and only appears to be real... He should take the time to read what His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupasda has actually written with regard to hladini shakti and stop making his own speculations about the nature of Radha and Krsna and rasa tattva. Cc. Adi lila for a beginning: . . . In order to learn how Krsna's pleasure can be obtained, we must read the Tenth Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam, in which Krsna's pleasure potency is displayed in HIS pastimes with RADHARANI and the DAMSELS of Vraja. Unfortunately, UNINTELLIGENT (STUPID) people turn at once to the sports of Krsna in the Dasama-skandha, the Tenth Canto. KRSNA'S embracing RADHARANI or HIS dancing wWITH the COWHEARD GIRLS in the RASA DANCE are generally not understood by ORDINARY men because they consider these pastimes in the light of mundane lust. They incorrectly think that Krsna is like themselves and that HE embraces the GOPIS just as an ordinary man embraces a young girl. Some people thus become interested in Krsna because they think that His religion allows indulgence in sex. This is not krsna-bhakti, love of Krsna, but prakrta-sahajiya--materialistic lust. Guest guest
what is your understanding of madhurya rasa based on ? clearly it is based on the literal definition given to us in the shastra, unfortunately for you and those who are like you (i.e. those who haven't realized the first basic understanding of the single nature of Radha ,Krishna and the gopis) you ignore the warnings of the acharyas and consider yourselves authorities on a subject you have zero realization of, and instead of heeding the words of the acharyas telling us that the true nature of Madhurya lila is hidden from casual view, not available to the dilletant who perouses the shastra on madhurya lila considering himself an expert by such reading, not understanding or considering the counsel of the true guru who warns that such reading will not reveal the true nature of the rasa lila, and only give one an external understanding, possibly leading to considering those pastimes to be like mundane activities which they appear like, due to the nature of boy-girl interactions, but the hidden truth reveals another reality, the one i have been speaking of, your view and those like yours is what is apparentely the reality of madhurya lila, but not the actual, you take the external and accept that, ignorant of the reality due to a poor fund of knowledge. anadi
Bhagavan is one not many. This is a Christian statement which goes against the idol worship. And for most of the nowadays Christians this one God is like an impersonal power that has all opulence and so on. We also find in the sastra the statement that bhagavan wanted to become many. Why? Because He wanted to enjoy pastimes (lilas). The many forms of Bhagavan (Krsna, Rama, Narayana, Vishnu…) are not illusory , they are real, in all the realms of the spiritual world, and when they come in the material world, they remain the same reality being not touched by illusion. These forms of bhagavan are totally independent from each other , and are embodiments of different moods, and although are the same person bhagavan they have even less qualities than the original form Vraja Krsna . So God is not only one, but also many. Maha Vishnu, which is bhagavan and has the “unpleasant” job of being the maintainer of the material worlds, wanted to see bhagavan, the all attractive Sri Krsna as He appeared in the material realm, and Visnu stole the boys of a brahmana to make Krsna to come to Him, and so to have the oppotunity to MEET Krsna. Why? Because Vishnu is different from Krsna, although in tattva, philosophical principle, they are one. But the Supreme! Personality of God Is Vraja Krsna who has in Himself the moods (and qualities) of all other forms of God . Guest guest
OH MY GOD ! you need to do some serious re thinking, all of the expansions of godhead are non different, all one and the same person, they are not different people, you are not understanding the basic reality of Krishna consciousness. they are all one person, with different roles, functions etc, not many persons in one. here is A.C. Bhaktivedanta lord Brahma is praising Krishna after realizing his foolishness, from the Srimad Bhagavatam, synopsis, " Krsna the supreme personality of godhead." "Persons who are unaware of Your inconceivable energy cannot understand that You alone expand Yourself as the creator Brahma, maintainer Visnu, and annihilator Siva. Persons who are not in awareness of things as they are contemplate that I, Brahma, am the creator, Visnu is the maintainer, and Lord Siva is the annihilator. Actually, You are alone everything--creator, maintainer, and annihilator. Similarly, You expand Yourself in different incarnations; among the demigods You incarnate as Vamanadeva, among the great sages You incarnate as Parasurama, among the human beings You appear as Yourself, as Lord Krsna, or Lord Rama, among the animals You appear as the boar incarnation, and among the aquatics You appear as the incarnation of fish. And yet You have no appearance; You are always eternal. Your appearance and disappearance are made possible by Your inconceivable energy just to give protection to the faithful devotees and to annihilate the demons. O my Lord, O all-pervading Supreme Personality of Godhead, O Supersoul, controller of all mystic powers, no one can appreciate Your transcendental pastimes as they are exhibited within these three worlds. No one can estimate how You have expanded Your yogamaya and Your incarnation and how You act by Your transcendental energy. My dear Lord, this whole cosmic manifestation is just like a flashing dream, and its temporary existence simply disturbs the mind. As a result, we are full of anxiety in this existence; to live within this material world means simply to suffer and to be full of all miseries. And yet this temporary existence of the material world appears to be pleasing and dear on account of its having evolved from Your body, which is eternal and full of bliss and knowledge. "If one therefore thinks that the Supersoul is something different from Your personality and thus searches out the Supersoul somewhere else, in the forest or in the caves of the Himalayas, his condition is very lamentable. ------------------------ "Lord Nityananda is not different from Lord Krsna. Lord Nityananda is Lord Krsna's associate, friend, couch, ornaments, and kinsmen." (C.Bhag. Madhya 12.27) "By Lord Nityananda's mercy one attains devotion to Lord Visnu (Krsna). Please know that Lord Nityananda has all the power of Lord Krsna." (C.Bhag. Madhya 12.26) "As already explained, Krsna and Radha are one in two. They are identical. Krsna expands Himself in multi-incarnations and plenary portions like the purusas. Similarly, Srimati Radharani expands Herself in multi-forms as the goddesses of fortune, the queens and the damsels of Vraja. Such expansions from Srimati Radharani are all Her plenary portions. All these womanly forms of Krsna are expansions corresponding to His plenary expansions of Visnu forms. These expansions have been compared to reflected forms of the original form. There is no difference between the original and reflected forms. The female reflections of Krsna's pleasure potency are as good as Krsna Himself." A.C. anadi
From Brihad-Bhagavat-amrita 142. Some sing songs of glorification that please His ears and heart, some play musical instruments, and some joke with Him. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that the word "sankirtana" here indicates that the gopis were chanting Krsna's names. 143. Thus served by all the gopis, who were melting with feelings of great friendship, Krsna gave the chewed betelnuts they intensely desired, although each could not see the others receiving them. 144. With these activities pleasing His beloveds, and delighted by Sri Radhika's words of love, Krsna, the crest jewel in the assembly of the most intelligent, at once began His pastimes of sleep . 145. Receiving a hint from Him, all of them drowning in a flood of happiness, went to their own homes. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that Krsna's hint was the dancing of His eyebrows. 146. Then Sridama carefully took me to his own home. What other pastimes Krsna enjoyed that night I cannot say. 147. With great difficulty I passed the night and in the morning I went to Nanda's home. I saw Krsna on the bed, sleeping and bearing the marks of amorous pastimes . 148. Going to His side and showing Her affection for Him in many ways, His honest mother spoke some words to herself. 149. Ah, exhausted from having spent all day protecting the cows in the forest, and finding the happiness of sleep, even now my boy does not wake up. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that Mother Yasoda does not suspect that Krsna has spent the entire night enjoying the rasa-dance pastime . 150. Terrible thorns in the forest made these wounds everywhere on all His limbs when again and again He ran here and there. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that these wounds were made by the gopis' fingernails . 151. Alas! The black kajjala from His eyes has anointed all His limbs. He is so overcome with sleep that He does not even know. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that these marks of black kajjala were left by the gopis . He does not even know that He is marked here and there with strains of red betelnuts from His lips. He must have broken His necklaces, garlands, and other ornaments as again and again He turned in His sleep. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that the red betelnut stains actually came from the gopis lips and it was the gopis who broke Krsna's necklaces, garlands, and ornaments. Mother Yasoda thinks Krsna broke them as He turned in His sleep. 153. Even bathing did not wash away the kunkuma-coloured Yamuna-bank clay that is now the friend of His body. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that the kunkuma actually came from the gopis' breasts. Mother Yasoda playfully calls the kunkuma the "friend" of Krsna's body because it clings there so tightly. 154. Yesterday at sunset the impatient girls did not bathe Him very carefully and thoroughly. They did not wash away all the dirt. 155. These same things Mother Yasoda spoke again and again before the girls of Vraja when they came, their faces shining with fear, smiles and embarrassment. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that gopis were afraid that Mother Yasoda had learned the truth of their pastimes with Krsna at night, they smiled when they heard her words explaining how thoroughly she misunderstood everything and they were embarrassed to see the marks they had left on Krsna's body . Vibhava Visaya alambana (the object of love) Sri Krsna who is an ocean of the qualities of rupa-madhurya (uniquely sweet form), venu-madhurya (uniquely sweet flute), lila-madhurya (uniquely sweet pastimes), and prema-madhurya(uniquely sweet prema of His devotees) is the visaya alambana of madhura-rasa. Asraya alambana (the container of love) The preyasi-vrinda or gopa-ramanis are the visraya alambana of this rasa. Of all the preyasis, Srimati Radhika is the best. Uddipana (stimuli) The sound of Krsna's flute ( murali), the season of spring ( vasanta), the call of the cuckoo, seeing a peacock's neck are the main uddipanas of this rasa. Guest guest
The natural sentiment of a person who has acquired prema is rasa. Decision of rasa is only the description of how the various sentiments have been arrived at. Rasa is not a part of sadhana. Therefore if somebody says, "Come, I will teach you rasa" then it will be his wickedness or foolishness. Rasa is not the subject of knowledge but of taste. . .. Without taste rasa cannot play its part....In fact, those who are entitled to rasa are very rare. So rasa is to be kept in secret." (Sri Caitanya Sikshamrita, pp 221-2, 229) In his purport in Sri Caitanya Caritamrta, Madhya 13.27 Srila Prabhupad wrote: "We cannot understand the affairs of the spiritual world on the basis of our experience in the material world. The Lord's pastimes with the gopis are therefore misunderstood by mundane scholars and word-wranglers. The parakiya-rasa of the spiritual world should not be discussed except by one who is very advanced in pure devotional service."

Vijaya-kumara: What are the features of Krsna when He is the visaya in madhura rasa? Gosvami: Ah! That is a very pleasing question. Krsna's complexion is the colour of a new rain cloud. He is charming. All His features are sweet and charming. He is the strongest. His youthfulness is always new and fresh. He speaks eloquently and sweetly. He is intelligence, glorious, sober, profound the best ,famous, charming to all women, always new and fresh, the enjoyer of incomparable transcendental pastimes, handsome, the most dear and expert at playing the flute . The supreme male Krsna has many transcendental qualities like these. The glory of all the Kamadevas is at once eclipsed by a mere glimpse of the glory of Krsna's feet. Lord Krsna's sidelong glance enchants the hearts of all . Krsna is the great treasure of transcendental pastimes. He is the good fortune attained by the gopis . Vijaya-kumara: Krsna has a great host of wonderful spiritual qualities. Krsna is the only hero of the wonderful and spiritual madhura rasa . Now I can fully understand all this . Previously I studied many scriptures. Even though I would sometimes meditate on Lord Krsna, I did not have firm faith in Him. But now, by your mercy a little bit of devotion, devotion that is the root of attraction to Krsna , has risen in my heart. Now that my heart has become purified by devotion, I have attained the direct perception of Lord Krsna. I turned away from Krsna. But still Krsna never left my heart. Ah, how merciful He is! Now I can understand these words (Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu 2.5.131-132): " Non devotees cannot understand the transcendental mellows experienced between the devotee and the Lord. In all respects, this is very difficult, but one who has dedicated everything to the lotus feet of Krsna can taste the transcendental mellows.*

In Goloka there are millions and millions of young, adolescent, and old gopas. Each one thinks: " I, and no one else, am most dear to Krsna". 212. In the course of their daily activities they constantly associate with Krsna. They are all very pure. Each one is like that. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that the words "each one is like that" mean that each one, in truth, is most dear to Krsna. 213. None of them is ever satisfied. The many varieties of the thirst of their love for Krsna, which is the mother of humbleness, always increase. 214. Krsna's great kindness, love, and attachment are seen to be always placed in each of the millions and millions of gopis. 215. For these reasons and for hundreds of other reasons people like myself can understand that no one in any place is more dear to Krsna than they. 216. When Krsna's special love for a certain gopi is seen, then it is understood that she is the most dear to Him . 217. Although each gopi is most dear to the Lord, and although they all experience the many blisses of enjoying pastimes with Him, the gopis do not think the Lord loves them. 218. Each gopi thinks: "When will I be fortunate to be the least of Krsna's maidservants? ' 219. O Lord, even the great souls cannot understand the great wonder of their deep love. One day, as He was enjoying pastimes by the Yamuna's shore, Krsna, the son of Nanda, heard that Kaliya had again come to his lake. 221. At once going there alone and climbing a kadamba tree, He dove into the lake, making the waters very turbulent. 222. Playing in the water by wonderfully swimming back and forth, and making many loud sounds, Krsna approached the demon, who at once wrapped his coils about the Lord. Playful Krsna then showed something. 223. Not seeing Krsna, who had left their company, the gopa friends became as if they had died. Tormented by the desire to find Him, they saw His footprints, and followed them to the lake. 224. When they saw Krsna could not move, His friends fainted. When they could not see Him at all because He was covered by the waters, they no longer wished to live. 225. Standing by the shore, the cows, bulls, calves, and other domestic animals from the village, as well as the wild animals from the forest, all cried, fixing their eyes on Krsna's face and screaming in agony. 226. Crying pitifully, the birds flew over the lake and dived into the waters. The trees and other plants became dry and withered. May great calamities happened. 227. Sent by the Lord, an old man ran to Vraja village. Crying, and terribly calling out "Alas! Alas!", he described what had happened. 228. Seeing many fearful calamities, the people of Vraja left their homes and hurried to find Krsna. 229. The old man's broken words were like a thunderbolt falling on them. 230-1. In His home Balarama called out "It's a lie! A lie!" consoling the people of Vraja, who had become like running corpses. He carefully convinced Mother Rohini to stay at home, and then He also ran with the others. . Srila Sanatana Gosvami explains that Balarama knew how powerful His younger brother was. Balarama gave Mother Rohini the task of cooking Krsna's meal, and in this way He kept her at home. 232. He quickly came to the lake. Seeing His younger brother in that state, He could not remain peaceful, but He cried in the agony of love.
