Guest guest
What designates food to be "prasadam"? Does it have to be physically offered before the deity?
theist
needs to have been accepted by the Lord. It's a loving exchange not a religious ritual.
Guest guest
So, do you recite a prayer?
theist
But I don't consider the food I offer to be genuine prasad. I am at the practice stage. Just don't take the formality to be the real thing. That doesn't mean we just ignore the formalities however. Place some nicely cut fruit with a flower on a plate set aside for the Lord, offer it to a picture of Lord Caitanya, with some chanting of Nitai Gaura and Hare Krsna, humbly bow, share the remnants with others and you are on your way. One of maya's tricks is to say that since we don't have real love yet there is no use in offering. The counter is if we don't try to cultivate love how do we expect it to grow. Guest guest
Prasada or the Lords mercy is allways advailable to us. We simply have to desire His mercy . When we offer some boga we should try our best to prepare the offering with love and Krishna says if offered with love He will acceapt. Best to grow Tusli Devi in our homes and if our love is mixed then she will cover for our lack of love. When we offer Tusli leaves to Krishna He must acceapt her and our offering. Then that offering is the Lord Himself and we grow in love for HIM
