How many devotees perform the garbodhana-samskara before trying for a child?

Srila Prabhupada said to chant at least 50 rounds of maha-mantra before concieving/ trying for a child.Is that still done today amongst grhasthas?

I'd imagine you'll find that quite a few do this.

I did. I chanted for three days and my good wife chanted, read shastra, and we also went door to door asking people to chant the holy names.

 

Our son has heard Sri Radha and Sri Krsna's holy name all of his life and he is now 19. I mentioned to him that its almost time for him to help me by taking charge of the family so I can retire and chant the holy name until I die.
