Guest guest
This came up earlier in the manu-samhita thread. I'd like to pursue it a bit further. Even if we can't follow the standards, just knowing them can keep us on track and potentially save us from disaster at any moment by basing a decision on truth. Prabhupada pointed out the God-given system of varnashrama-dharma cannot be changed, only perverted. Indeed, it is hard to image how there can be anything other than the types of men and social functions conveyed in this system. Now I have a burning need and an objective reason for wanting to know alot about varnashrama in general. Can anyone show me the way? I want to know as much detail as possible. What the responsibilities were, what the mindsets were and how they viewed each other. One class was considered higher than another due to the qualities of activities. Yes? So again, how does all this relate to the mindset of individuals and the spiritual orders as well. Where is this information in scriptures? Or anywhere else? Please help. Guess Guest P.S. I love the way the Mahabharata reveals alot of this indirectly.
Guest guest
in gita krishna describes four varnas he created. he also describes they guna of each. manu smriti was never a law book. and no need to read it for varnasrama dharma. gita is the right source for it. when you know it, what you plan to do with it please? jai sri krishna!
