it was a consideration that, if we build a real varnashrama structure, the sons of who's now a devotee, is trained from an early age... not like now that one starts chanting hare krsna at 30 or 40 , brahmacharya at 35 etc.

It's funny. One western bodied Gaudiya Math sanyasi replied to that Prabhupad quote by saying, "there shouldn't even BE a third generation!"

sounds like a cruel and hateful thing to say.....

 

Prabhupada was heard to say:

"anyone that does not love children is a demon"

 

what does that tell you?

I recall reading that Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Prabhupada, notably a life long celibate commented on the issue of Krsna Conscious children.

He said along the lines that if he could know with certainty that the children would become Krsna conscious he would have willingly had one hundred.

If that is the value of Vaisnava children in the mind of the highest of high Vaisnavas Srila Saraswati Thakura, could there be any further question?

Having Krsna conscious children is the sole justification for the married life of a devotee. If the parents are active in arranging at best effort, the spiritual advancement of the child how could the parents possibly avoid also steadily advancing toward Krsna themselves?

Yeah there shouldn't even be a material world in the first place. Now back to reality.

i could be wrong, but maybe he was joking about

that the devotees shouldn't be having sex, therefore

no children, he was a sanyassa ?

Sounds to me like was just saying no one should be taking birth at all, or at least devotees should be free of involvement. I doubt he was very serious.
