Hinduism has certainly altered the outlook of most (not all) of the Indians. Hinduism is considered a way of life in the true sense. In general, we are brought up with the feeling of love and compassion about others and their faiths. along with the understanding that Hinduism is the most complete (and truly ideal) religion in the world besides being the most ancient. The four Vedas (our scriptures), the world-famous Bhagavadgita and Bhagavatam are our holy books, the knowledge contained in these books is applicable to the mankind in the entire globe. The main theme in these books is, that, the soul is eternal and is a part of the Supreme Godhead. We, the spirit souls are here in the world due to our unfulfilled desires and our false identification and attachement with the material world. We take birth after birth, unless we undertake spiritual austerities to purify our souls, before merging the Supreme Godhead. Most Indians believe in idol-worship, because God is formless and also with form. God is omniscient and He takes the form, that His devotees like to see Him in. People engaging themselves (Indians) invarious types of worships, fasting, austerities, chanting etc. are the souls at various stages on their way to reach the Supreme Godhead. Their spiritual knowledge remains with the soul so that they continue their journey in their subsequent births to reach Supreme Godhead. A small section of the people believe in wrong practices and superstitions due to illetaracy and lack of knowledge of the scriptures as well as inappropriate guidance by an incompetent leader etc. These small aberrations do not bring down the glory of Hinduism as it has remained firm on the solid footing inspite of many other religions making their appearances on the globe.

you know the truth and have answered your question.

dhanyawad!

<<Hinduism has certainly altered the outlook of most (not all) of the Indians. >>

There is something not quite right in the above line.

Hinduism has not invaded in india and has not altered indians. India is the home of hindduism and most indians are hindus. only some are muslims bacause if islam invasion.

when an indian is not a hindu or is not practicing hinduism correctly, then only he/she can be considered "altered" by invader indeology.

if a rose smells like onion,

then only it can be called "altered."

jai sri krishna!
