Guest guest
so how can it ever be wrong from the newsletter section: Only by the causeless mercy of of the name, form and pastimes of Lord Nityananda, one's offenses against Vaishnavas are destroyed and one attains devotional service of Lord Krishna.(136) full story
Govindaram
Is it good to chant Nityananda/Gauranga rounds FIRST then begin chanting 16 rounds of Hare-Krishna? I chanted today Nityananda/Gauranga after my 16 rounds of Hare-Krishna Maha-Mantra. Also can you chant Nitai-Gauranaga on Japa beads? Does anybody from Iskcon practice this? I do it for obvious reasons so..
theist
>>Also can you chant Nitai-Gauranaga on Japa beads? << In the early seventies there was a brief time when chanting the pancha-tattva maha-mantra on japa beads became popular due to one famous sannyasi doing it. Prabhupada stopped the practice of chanting anything but Hare Krsna on beads. I use a clicker.
Govindaram
In the early seventies there was a brief time when chanting the 1*pancha-tattva maha-mantra on japa beads became popular due to one famous sannyasi doing it. Prabhupada stopped the practice of chanting 2*anything but Hare Krsna on beads. 1) I know NOT to chant the pancha-tattva maha-mantra on beads /images/graemlins/smile.gif 2) Thats makes sense. But I was asking about Nitai-Gauranga /images/graemlins/smile.gif I mean I chant mantra Nityananda & Gauranga, for thier mercy so I can chant Hare-Krishna without offences, there's no way I'll stop chanting Hare-Krishna /images/graemlins/grin.gif
Govindaram
I just changed the chanting to just Nitai-Gauranga, I did 8 rounds, and while doing these rounds, I could see my Hare-Krishna rounds were chanted with-out much feeling, time to change!! Nitai-Gauranga Ki Jai! hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare
Subala
instead of chanting 20 extra rounds of Nitai - Gour -- better chant 20 more rounds of hare krishna, don't change it. Why, because 2-3 generations from you (in case of you becomming popular and guru with many disciples) people will stop chanting hare krishna and will be chanting gaur-nita japa, and it will be one more very nice apasampradaya. Or even if you chant it now - some neophite devotee will see you and say why chant hare krishna - we will chant nitaigaur now. Keep it pure, if you want to be be a good follower. Prabhupada gave us all we need.

Vaishnava_das108
What is a clicker? And is it bona-fide? I know of a disciple who rejected his ISKCON guru because that guru chanted his rounds on clickers when he should have been setting a better example. theist
A cliker is a small counter that fits into the palm of your hand. When you chant one mantra there is a thing you push with your thunb that causes the number to increase by one, with a small clicking sound. I use one when walking around in public. No one notices and its not so clumsy as beads. I use beads at home. I have a yellow sticker on the clicker I use for chanting the pancha-tattva mantra. I was told that Prabhupada said beads were for the Hare Krsna mantra. I can't point that out anywhere but I remeber an incident that convinces me its true. People also chant on their fingers, for me I don't like that method. I did gather 108 small stones together once when I forgot my beads. Each mantra I dropped one stone into a new pile until the first pile was gone and then started on the new pile. Maybe someone can confirm that the maha-mantra is for beads only or not. theist
Letter to: Govardhan 4, (new98) -- Juhu, Bombay-54 18 November, 1973 ISKCON 8311 E. Jefferson Detroit, Michigan 48214 My dear Govardhan Das: Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated October 12, 1973 and have noted the contents. So far the new disciples are concerned, I am accepting on your recommendation the following as my initiated disciples: Maharani Dasi - Shirley Daniels Dhenumati Dasi - Coleen Handlon Krsnakathananda Dasa Adhikary - Richard Marcolini & Sarvashaktimati Dasi- Angeline Marcolini. Also enclosed find one sacred thread chanted upon for Phatikcandra dasa brahmachari. Let Satsvarupa Maharaja chant on the beads and hold a fire sacrifice amongst the devotees. Take care of the new disciples and please see that they are always engaged in Krsna’s service, chanting Hare Krsna. Regarding your successful book distribution, you should know that this is the greater preaching. I am very much pleased. The conch shells as you have described may be kept on the altar as decoration, but they must be kept clean. Everything on the altar must always be clean. Who is that rascal sannyasi who has recommended to chant Pancha Tattva mantra on the japa beads? First, send me his name. I hope this meets you in good health. Your ever well wisher, A.C.
