KERALA, INDIA, November 10, 2003: For years the world of animation has

been dominated by American and European characters, but now indigenous

cartoons of international standards are being produced in India. Bill

Dennis, an American citizen who has worked for Walt Disney Company and

Hannah Barbera Studios is producing the Indian cartoon series, The

Adventures of Hanuman, from his 450-employee strong, state-of-the-art

studio in Tiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The 2-D and 3-D, TV series will

focus on interesting episodes in Hanuman's life. Explains Dennis, "The

series will keep close to the original story. We want to make it very

interesting; but we won't take any creative liberties." Indian folklore

content was shown to Western audiences for the first time when the

series on Tenali Raman, a brilliant 16th century court jester in south

India was produced by Dennis's studio and beamed through the Cartoon

Network to world audiences in different languages.
