Govindaram
Hare Krishna I can't remember where but I heard that Bhaktivinoda Thakura says that there is actually no hell, could anybody say in which Book he says this at all? ranen
Hare Krishna Prabhu. I'm not sure if Bhaktivinoda Thakura actaully said that, but in the Bhagavatam, it is stated that there are various stages or levels of hell for different sins committed. All of which are judged by Yamaraja. Hope I could be of some help.
Kulapavana
I have heard that that Srila Thakura Bhaktivinode comment regarding "hell" was made in relation to the christian concept of hell which is "eternal damnation without chance of redemption. that kind of hell certainly does not exist (how could God be just if He gave you unlimited punishment for one life of ignoring Him?). hellish planet are clearly described by Srimad Bhagavatam and many other Vedic texts as places of temporary punishment for our transgressions of Lord Krishna's laws
Guest guest
Go to the Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 5, Chapter 25 for more information (it could be 24).
