So the point that Sri Krsna is making in this particular sloka is that the particular transformations arise and disappear, but the prakrti itself is always conserved, it always exists.

 

And the person within the prakrti, he also always exists.

 

So when we speak of "origin" in the Vedic context, what we are talking about is the origin of a particular situation.

 

Now in a specific situation which has to be explained is that somehow, something which is not physical, has come into contact with something that is physical.
