Guest guest
Jail threat for kissing couples Indonesian couples who are caught kissing passionately in public could face jail under proposed legislation. Members of parliament have drafted an anti-pornography bill, which includes a ban on kissing on the mouth in public. Kissers could get five years in jail or a fine of 250m rupiah ($29,000.) "I think there must be some restrictions on such acts because it is against our traditions of decency," said Aisyah Hamid Baidlowi, who heads the parliamentary committee drafting the bill. The bill is awaiting government approval and also bans public nudity, flashing, erotic dancing and sex parties. Proposed jail terms range from three to 10 years. Indonesia has the world's biggest population of Muslims, but most follow a fairly tolerant interpretation of the religion.
Dervish
I don't see why Pat Robertson doesn't like Muslims.
Kulapavana
well... there are some very conservative devotees out there who might applaud such harsh treatment of offenders to the public decency standards... they conveniently forget that Vedic civilization was very different than such "standards". Srimad Bhagavatam makes a note of prostitutes welcoming Lord Krishna to both Mathura and Dvaraka. These ladies were respected members of society. We should be carefull not to borrow "standards" from non-vedic religions, as they are simply a disturbance to a healthy society...
