Govindaram
Hare Krsna I heard that you can present KC. In your own way (according to your personality) in an *attractive* way. I say this because I have heard ppls complaining that disciples of Prabhupada (or other Guru) don't give good lectures..

Govindaram
I think everybody takes something different from a Lecture, so its very personal.
stonehearted
theist asked what you (personally) would consider a good lecture. What do you look for? What do you want to take away?
theist
For myself, I find the best lectures are the ones that really make me conscious of my own flaws. Real hard-nosed straight forward, no holds barred reality. That's how we can get past those mind games that we have developed to hide the truth from ourselves even when we are convinced we are sincerely seeking them out. But not for the whole lecture. A good lecture should then inspire us to grow towards Krsna. Our hearts should be softened and our determination strengthened to take this teaching seriously on a personal level. The attractive nature of Krsna should come through. A heavy emphasis on the basics is best for me. I need to really come to terms with my(apparent) birth and death situation. I need to see and accept my relation to Krsna. He is great & I am small. So many angles really. But at the end of a talk if I feel inspired to humble myself before God in some way I would call that a good lecture.
Guest guest
Haribol. You make a good point about being attractive. If one is truely giving another KRSNA via a lecture (or writing, thesis, essay, or even making a point on a discussion forum), then attractiveness is there because krsna is there. If a lecture is "no good", either the tongue is polluted, or the ears are plugged up. For me, the best lectures givben by Srila Prabhupada and his advanced disciples are ones describing experiances in Bhakti yoga, like Srila Prabhupadas description of how he met Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, or various descriptions by his disciples on how they came to the movement. Ive heard some real unattractive stinkers, I walked out in a huff once in LA by a real bad one by one dude who thought he was a naistika brahmacari and was thrilled at folks bowing down to him. Another time, I walked out with about ten devotees when a dude was giving a praise of Srila Prabhupada because we all knew what a criminal and offender of Srila Prabhupadas disciples he was. But these are not krsna lectures. Only Krsna can give himself to others, and he uses his unalloyed devotees to do this work. Such representatives can spend an hour telling everyone how useless they are and how they havent a clue aboiut spiritual life, and another can praise the audience saying how nicely they performed samkirtana. Both these lectures are all attractive, interesting, and the effect is purging sinful reaction from the one hearing such story Haribol, ys, mahaksadasa
Govindaram
A lecture which changes my mind, a lecture about pastimes, after hearing it, I feel I want to hear this person again, a lecture which is Not boring, the lectures which I can think of which are 100cent to the point no holds-barred, KC, are Prabhupada Lectures, they whip your mind up. churn out the dirt/filth, thats what you call trancendental. Other devotees lectures which are like are Radhanath Swami on Lord Caitanya's pastimes, and Bhakti Caru Swami, though I just like to listen, I am not preparing myself for Initiation from anybody! What I take away?..thats very profound, most of the time I happen to just leave it there, I forget to 'pick it up'. Hope thats ok, hare krsna
