I found it very effective when chanted with deep devotion and unconditional and unquestionable faith. I felt it when my father had heart attack for the second time and admitted in hospital and when doctors told us that he will not survive anymore as his pulse was dipping down. All that I knew was I was chanting this sloka the whole day and night without sleep sitting in the ward outside the intensive care unit.. This happend almost 17 years back when I was only 18 years old. My father is still alive by the Grace of Lord chanting the name of Lord with His blessings happily. I also like to mention that even now while I was writing the post above chanting Vasudeva's name my eyes are filled with tears, because its the total surrendering faith that saved my father..I know that anyone who is born has to die someday, but I was chanting His name and begging Lord to extend my father's life for somemore time and as always He is merciful. This is why I always think of you on these "favorite songs" or "favorite movies" threads. Its not that we delve into the maya of being attached to contemporary art. Its more like knowing the spark of the splendor (you thought I was gonna say "high heeled boys" didnt you, we'll save it for a day of heavy Traffic). Or Krsna being the ability of man, or how he empowers whomever he pleases to leave us wandering sleepers something to think about. I wont go as far as saying "Of 60s bands, I am the Yardbirds", but in my own experiance, Krsna can speak quite plainly through the lyrics and works of the bleeding hearts and artists. I was watching an aerial view of a city and realized how many people there are ... many many many, many men. I felt dwarfed with the message. How few there are of us. Am using the "Vaishnava Songs Book" on how to learn and play harmonium. Sadly, however i want like to play "Suddha Bhakata" on the harmonium, but there are no notes for it in the book. Could someone please direct me to a site where I can find harmonium tunes and notes/keys for krishna songs. I would very much greatly appreciate it. Haribol.
