Event Title: Country Style Ratha Yatra

Description: With the rustic backdrop of Pennsylvania's green hills, devotees of Lord Krsna come from all over the East Coast to celebrate this special country style Lord Jagannatha's chariot festival. Join in chanting, dancing, live music, puppet shows, drama, bharatnatyam dances, children activities and outdoor bazaar. In attendance, His Holiness Bhakti-Tirtha Swami and many other distinguished guest.

When I worked in NY I went to the farm for Ratha Yatra. It was out of this world.

 

There is usually a bus tour arranged from Brooklin temple with a large tent to stay two days.

 

Even the cows were graced by Lord Jagannatha's presence as He rolled up and down the hillside surrounded by kirtana everywhere.

Would anyone happen to know how to get there from the Washington DC area? I tried to mapquest the address, but it wasn't reconized. Thanks in advance.

Directions to Gita-nagari:

 

· via Harrisburg (from Washington DC, New York and New Jersey) - Take Route 322 West out of Harrisburg. Go approximately 40 miles and take the Port Royal exit. Take Route 75 South through the town of Port Royal. About 4 miles outside of town, there will be a fork in the road with the sign "Spruce Hill Lunch". Take the right fork for 1.5 miles. You will see the Gita-nagari sign on the right side of the road. Once on the property, take three right turns to reach the temple building.

 

· via PA Turnpike (I-76) East (from West Virginia and Columbus, OH) - Get off at Exit 14 (Willow Hill) and take Route 75 North for about 45 minutes until you get to the village of Spruce Hill. After passing the Spruce Hill Lunch on your left, make a very sharp left turn at the fork and drive for 1.5 miles. You will see the Gita-nagari sign on the right side of the road. Once on the property, take three right turns to reach the temple building.

 

· via Interstate 80 East (from Chicago, Detroit and Buffalo, NY) - Get off at Exit 18 and take Route 153 South for two miles. Take Route 322 East for approximately 90 miles until you get to the Port Royal Exit. Take Route 75 South through the town of Port Royal. About 4 miles outside of town, there will be a fork in the road with the sign "Spruce Hill Lunch".

 

Take the right fork for 1.5 miles. You will see the Gita-nagari sign on the right side of the road. Once on the property, take three right turns to reach the temple building.
