Vanguard
I REALLY want to learn Hindi and Sanskrit. I need computer programs, and the names of very good instructional textbooks. The textbooks at my local college are "home-made" and quite bad. I need help!

Guest guest
Greetings, The best single text for learning Sanskrit is Devavanipravesika. Information on this book is available at http://ias.berkeley.edu/southasia/sanskrit.html. It might be available through Amazon. It is best to supplement this book with a good grammar. Two names that come to mind are Jan Gonda and Macdonnel. Computer programs for Sanskrit will not be very helpful, because much memorization of paradigms is required. For Hindi, software might be fine. Good luck.
