Guest guest
Haribol. The Pope is the representative of Lord Jesus Christ, ordained by Lord Christ Himself upon naming Simon "peter", meaning the rock. To represent the Acarya, an election by men is never efficient. The pope is supposed to be infallible in doctrine, so in order for this idea to be valid, his post must be made by similarly infallible personalities. But, alas, the religions of men make up stuff as they go along. There are other popes, and maybe Ill post here about some of them, not appointed, not elected, and representative of Lord Jesus Christ. hartibol, ys, mahaksadasa

Guest guest
If Krnsa is God, then should I follow his representatives, Or does following Jesus Christ's representative (Pope) have the same effect?
theist
How do you know the Pope is the representative of Lord Jesus Christ? He may be or he may not be, but how does one tell?
krsna
This one on fasting is quite interesting. What can we learn from these great stalwarts from 'other' religious traditions? http://tasbeha.org/content/hh_books/fasting/index.html
Guest guest
On this forum we can argue till the cows come home on whether the Pope really is the representative of God/Christ on earth. OK, so let's take a slightly different perspective... The Pope is a devotee of the Lord - perhaps not Krsna in name and form but definitely God. He is the servant of the Lord also - he serves the Christian masses in a capacity he sees fit and in a capacity in which he was himself taught. One cannot argue that this is a great service to mankind and God. It is often said that we should seek refuge at the feet of those who are servants of servants of servants of the Lord. The question here is: Does the Pope qualify as such? My answer would be yes and no -- yes, because he is the servant of the Lord and therefore commands our respect. No, because if you know of the Truth of the Bhagavad Gita and such then you already have a direct path to Bhakti - which was exactly the teaching of Christ anyway - LOVE. Geek.
