Sri Krishna nee begane baro

Janamashtami, falls on August 26 this year. It is celebrated with equal fervour in the North as well as in the South.

One of the most loved Gods of the Hindu pantheon, Lord Krishna’s birthday falls on the eighth day (ashtami of Krishna Paksha) of a lunar fortnight, that is the eighth day after Raksha Bandhan, in the month of Shravana. Hence it is also known as Krishna ashtami and is celebrated over two days. The first day is Krishna ashtami or Gokul ashtami. The second day is called Kaal ashtami or more popularly Janamashtami.

The North/South divide in the country notwithstanding, Janamashtami is celebrated with equal fervour as much as in Brindavan and Mathura as in namma Bengaluru. For one, the common theme running in the respective regions is the celebrating Krishna’s birth with pure bhakti.

that a dirty, corrupt politician should celebrate the birth of our loving God Krishna. What's the world coming to? What next-Bin Laden is going to wish us during Ram Navami?

1. Every soul is eternal. And if anyone do something for service to Krisna and His devotees then it will be took into consideration by Paramatma in next lifes. Even if that person is not devotee in this life.

2. Specially to Guest:

One sees in others only that there is already in himself.

King Pratarupas' (?) (forgot his name)are rare. Still even if politicans only make such gestures as a way of gathering political capital it sends the right message and some will follow their example.

And how else can anyone gain sincerity except by engaging in Krsna consciousness in someway?

But it isn't KC they're engaging in. They lack sincerity and devotion. Such people are like Hiranyakasipu, they cannot be devotees.

Oh yes, Krishna saw Kansa as evil. By your logic, Krishna must've been evil too since one can only see in others what is there in oneself. Don't be silly, Maj. Call a spade a spade. If a politician is dirty and corrupt, he/she has no right to think of Krishna. Will you be happy with Bin Laden and Bush speaking of Krishna and killing thousands at the same time? I don't think so. It's called Nama-Aparadha.

This is such a false statement and behind this misconception is a lack of faith and knowledge.

Everyone can be a devotee because everyone IS a devotee. Some are awake to their devotion, others are asleep while some others are just stirring to consciousness, that is mixed devotees.

BTW, just who was it that played the role of Hiranyakasipu anyway?
