Guest guest
of liars and lies. Crosses all political and social lines, no one is willing to admit "I screwed up, biig time, and folks died because of my incompetence." As Bhagavatam says, narada to yudhisthira, "you are in the jaws of a serpant, you cannot protect anyone." But stupid politicians have everything at stake, because they all lied, saying they would protect us from terror, natural disasters, and the mind. No, reality says there is no protection from the threefold miseries, therefore, we have our instruction, "the wise lament neither the living nor the dead". Samsara as well as adhiatmic, adhidaivic, and adhibhautic caused miseries come with the biological form, it is the arena we all pretend we are god in. Liars say they can succeed, truth seekers as weell as truth speakers give accurate information concerning our plight here in Martya loka, the planet of death. So, the blame game is also for liars as well, because the greyhounds and the amtraks did not protect anyone from death. The only thing desired to be protected by all the liars of all sides is their rear ends, and they are dying too. Even in the most conspiricy theoretical model, the ZPGs, the committee of 300, the council of Rome, the cull-masters who want to cull 5,500,000,000 folks to their ideal 500,000,000 world population, all 500,000,000 of these "chosen people" will still die. The dhira has the last laugh, because lies have no effect on one who has no confusion. Haribol, ys, mahaksadasa.
Guest guest
CNN just reported that the day before Katrina came ashore Amtrac offered a special 900 seat train to evacuate residents. The mayor's office turned them down even though the train was actually there in NO already. Add to that the 800 school buses that should have been used to evacuate the poor that were left parked, empty and eventually flooded, and it becomes obvious why people were left on rooftops. 800 school buses and a 900 seat train would have done little for the few hundred thousand people who needed to leave. And even if that transportation was made available there was nowhere set up to take that amount of people in and care for them. Plus most of the people wouldn't have left anyways because they have been through numerous hurricane warnings before and they had never really done any real damage. So the real problem is how FEMA reacted or in fact didn't react in a professional manner. There were private citizens rescuing people in private jets, boats, trucks, etc for days before the Feds arrived. By that time people in hospitals were dropping like flies, New Orleans had turned into a panic stricken city with people starving and without water, aid from outside was actually blocked from getting in etc. The real problme was mismanagement by a federal agency whose sole purpose in siphoning off untold billions of dollars is to have a an efficient organization ready to mobilize quickly in case of disaster. For a few days before Katrina hit the news channels were saturated with warnings by experts telling everyone of the serious danger ahead. So FEMA had at least 3-4 days time to mobilize. They failed to do so. The head of FEMA and Homeland Security were on the news channels telling everyone they couldn't get in and reach the survivors, meanwhile for a from the very beginning after the city flooded newscasters were in New Orleans with their crews as well as numerous private citizens who came to offer aid. If they were able to get in with trucks and boats and planes, where was FEMA? The blame goes on the management of Homeland Security, FEMA and on Bush. Because Bush doesn't watch news or read newspapers he didn't know that FEMA and Homeland security were blowing it, if he had made himself aware of their incompetance as the tragedy unfolded instead of flying off to california for publicity sessions, then he could have reassigned management. According to white house insiders Bush lives in a bubble, no one wants to tell him bad news because he gets angry at the messenger, and because he avidly avoids media outlets like the plague, he is usually uniformed of many things going on in the world and the country. Lets break it down. 1. For years the money needed to shore up the levees has been diverted to Iraq amid the loud protests of the officials in the state of Louisiana who warned of the disaster looming ahead. 2. There was a serious lack of manpower due to most National Guardsmen being in Iraq. 3. Many people did not leave, even if there was enough transportation available for hundreds of thousands there was nowhere to take them and most wouldn't have left anyways. 4. FEMA and Homeland Security (FEMA works under them) did not prepare even though there was 3-4 days of warnings about the "mother of all hurricanes" heading straight for New Orleans. 5. Because Bush lives in a a cone of silence he was unawre of the disaster unfolding even though 99% of the country and world was watching it on t.v. Because of that he didn't make changes to management when it was needed. 6. The head of FEMA was an arabian horse expert, he lied on his application and said that he had headed up emergency response in a city in the midwest, when in truth when he was in college he was an aid to the person in charge. In an interview the persaon in charge said that Brown's duties were as a gofer, and that he wrote the man's political speeches for him. Brown had no experience whatsoever in emergency response, yet because he is a Bush crony he was put in charge of emergency respopnse for the entire nation, disaster was inevitable. 7. The primary blame goes on Bush for putting Brown in charge, for diverting funds to fix the levees to Iraq, as well as leaving too few National Guardsmen in the country. And for relying on information from his staff while studiously avoiding media of any type except sports and comics leaving him uniformed of day to day happenings the average person sees on the news. 8. The secondary blame goes on Michael Chertoff because he is head of Homeland Security and FEMA works for him. 9. The third blame goes to Brown because he was head of FEMA and it is his job to have been prepared once we knew Katrina was heading for New Orleans. 10. The rest of the blame goes to the brain dead people who supported Bush and put him in power. If you put someone like Bush in charge of America you are inviting disaster of various types, he hasn't not failed us in that way at all. theist
800 school buses and a 900 seat train would have done little for the few hundred thousand people who needed to leave. It would have only been for the elderly sick and poor not the whole city. There weren't a few hundred thousand left stranded. And even if that transportation was made available there was nowhere set up to take that amount of people in and care for them. I think anywhere would have preferable to being left in New Orleans even the side of highway someplace. Sheesh
Guest guest
We get the impression that the issue is, why the hades did gay happy New Orleans get trashed by MOTHER NATURE to begin with ? We saw a while back some comment about the similarities of Sodom and Gommorah and the reasoning for the distruction there of. Are you implying that there is sinful degradation of society going on here ? hence the storms and murderous flooding. Don't get on us about Moses and that whole thing, God cleaning up his mess in human creation far fetched or what ?
AncientMariner
The real house cleaning is still 427,000 years away according to Vedic scriptures. I suppose natural disasters could be viewed as a certain form of Krishna if "not even a blade of grass moves without His sanction" but the granddaddy of all natural disasters is still 427,000 years away apparently. Guest guest
really that far off ? well what goes around comes around, some one forgot to take out the garbage, but what about the so called aquarian age is not the 10,000 of Lord Caitanyas movement during the Kali yuga ? will it be comparable the death and distruction we witness today in modern times ? Guest guest
Ya well.... there is an Island off the coast of Africa and is scheduled to cause a huge Mega Tsunami when part of the island collapses. The prediction is based on data collected by some geologists and other scientists it's expected to happen within 50 years or so...sooner than later. The entire east coast will be a complete disaster zone according to the computor generated graphs. From the Florida handle to New York. The wave is estimated to be a rolling crest more than 14 kilometers in width, The wall of water that strikes the coast..will be between 20 and 30 meters. There was a similar Mega Tsunami in '53 or 54 in British Columbia. There are living survivors. The distruction is devastating. Check National Geographic or Knowledge Network for video on Mega Tsunami's.
AncientMariner
Was that predicted to be a bonafide golden age? I thought I read some of Prabhupada's quotes and he seemed to think Iskcon would pretty much disentegrate in a pretty short period of time. Don't know if that is correct so I could be wrong. Hopefully there is going to be a golden age for 10,000 years, that would be nice. I am ready for a nice relaxing golden age to come around. I guess William Blake predicted some sort of Golden age and he said he was always working to try and bring about some sort of Golden age. theist
Saw a report on CNN tonight about how the police in New Orleans were going around breaking in to homes and looting them. They interviewed many eye witnesses and showed many doors in this one apartment complex that had all been kicked in. They should be shot twice. /images/graemlins/mad.gif
