Acts 2:21 And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 9:14,21 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon Your name. And all who heard him were amazed and said, Is this not the one who ravaged those who call upon this name in Jerusalem and came here for this, that he might bring them bound before the chief priests?

Acts 22:16 And now, why do you delay? Rise up and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on His name.

Romans 10:12-13 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same [Lord is] Lord of all [and] rich to all who call upon Him; For “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints, with all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours:

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking in the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed; and no one can say, Jesus is Lord! except in the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 2:22 But flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Sankirtana (congregational glorification of God with musical instruments):

Samuel II 6:5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

Chronicles I 13:8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

Chronicles I 15:16 And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

Chronicles I 15:19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

Chronicles I 15:20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

Chronicles I 15:21 And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

Chronicles I 15:22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.

Chronicles I 15:28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

Chronicles I 16:5 Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

Chronicles I 16:42 And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

Chronicles I 25:6 All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

Chronicles I 25:7 So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

Chronicles II 5:12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)

Chronicles II 5:13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;

Chronicles II 29:25 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.

Chronicles II 29:26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

Chronicles II 29:27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.

Chronicles II 29:28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

Ezra 3:11 And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

Nehemiah 12:27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

Psalm 50:15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will glorify Me.

Psalm 91:15 He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

Psalm 150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD

The purpose of calling on the Lord:

(1) To be saved - Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

(2) To be rescued from distress - Psalm 118:5 From [my] distress I called upon the LORD; The LORD answered me [and] [set me] in a large place.

(3) To be rescued from trouble - Psalm 81:7 You called in trouble and I rescued you; I answered you in the hiding place of thunder; I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

(4) To be rescued from sorrow and pain - Psalm 116:3-4 The cords of death encompassed me and the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I beseech You, save my life!”

(5) To participate in the Lord’s mercy - Psalm 86:5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all who call upon You.

(6) To delight oneself in God - Job 27:10 Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call on God at all times?

(7) To partake of the Lord’s salvation - Psalm 116:13 I shall lift up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the LORD.

(8) To breathe the Lord - Lamentations 3:55-56 I called on Your name, O LORD, Out of the lowest pit. You have heard my voice, “Do not hide Your ear from my breathing, From my cry for help.”

(9) To drink from the fountain of God’s salvation - Isaiah 12:3-4 Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation. And in that day you will say, “Praise the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make [them] remember that His name is exalted.”

(10) To drink the spiritual water and to eat the spiritual food for satisfaction - Isaiah 55:1,6 Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.

(11) To enjoy the riches of the Lord - Romans 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same [Lord is] Lord of all [and] rich to all who call upon Him;

(12) To enjoy the nearness of the Lord - Psalm 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

(13) To stir up ourselves to take hold of the Lord - Isaiah 64:7 There is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us and have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.

(14) To receive the Spirit - Acts 2:17,21 And it shall be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream things in dreams; And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How to call on the Lord:

(1) Out of a pure heart - 2 Timothy 2:22 But flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

(2) With a pure lip - Zephaniah 3:9 For then I will give to the peoples purified lips, That all of them may call on the name of the LORD, To serve Him shoulder to shoulder.

(3) With an open mouth - Psalm 81:7 You called in trouble and I rescued you; I answered you in the hiding place of thunder; I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah. 10 I, the LORD, am your God, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

(4) Corporately - 2 Timothy 2:22 But flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

(5) Daily - Psalm 88:9 My eye has wasted away because of affliction; I have called upon You every day, O LORD; I have spread out my hands to You.

(6) As long as we live - Psalm 116:2 Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I shall call [upon Him] as long as I live.

Srila Prabhupada never considers Lord Jesus Christ dry, on the contrary, He often refers to Him as the great Vaisnava Acarya. What is dry is the hodgepodge man-made philosophy that has stolen the name of Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus Himself warned of future events where those who use His name are not recognized by Him because they have failed to do the Will of He who went Him.

There is no dryness in descriptions of the paraphenalia (including empowered representatives) of Krsna. The dryness comes from hearing nectar touched by the lips of serpants, i.e., descriptions of spiritual life from one not engaged in spiritual life.

There is nectar for those who understand the spiritual messages given. Hare Krsna, ys mahaksadasa

none whatsoever. Srila Prabhupada complained of dry philosophy. But this was not the philosophies of those surrender to Lord Jesus as he is. Nor did Srila Prabhupada prohibit his disciples from preaching from the bible, on the contrary, I know of one scholar devotee of Srila Prabhupada who was told to use the bible to preach bhakti yoga. Im sure he DID warn his disciples against trying to make sense of the bible, but those who knew Jesus as he is, they were not prohibited.

i would like to see the quote were Prabhupada has said to use the bible as preaching for bhakti yoga, but i do know a quote were he instructed his disciples not to.

were are you getting your info from is it your own speculation or what you have herd somewhere....through this devotee and that devotee....if you want to prove to me he said that then find a paragraph or qoute from a lecture and i will believe you otherwise more speculation about what prabhupada said.

so why didn't prabhupada use the bible as preaching literature? i think you will find your wrong on this one mahaka buddy.......and just because for his reasons unbeknown to us he may make an exception to allow one disciple to it does not mean you can tell devotees that prabhupada said it was ok, quite the contrary......an exception is not the general rule.....

another point is if jesus's teachings have been changed to hodge podge then why use it when we have the srimad bhagavatama?

another point you say this is not the philosophies of jesus, then if those philosophies are no longer here how do you know what they were?

prabhupada never used the bible then why should we or any vaishnava?

just stick with lord chaitanya mahaprabhu's literatures and leave the bible to the others........we don't need it...

"I know of one scholar devotee of Srila Prabhupada who was told to use the bible to preach bhakti yoga. Im sure he DID warn his disciples against trying to make sense of the bible, but those who knew Jesus as he is, they were not "

This is the typical presumption propogated by acbs. "those who know Jesus as he is" means devotees who have understood the REAL teachings of Chritianity, as opposed to 2000 worth of Christians who practiced Christianity. All these millions upon millions of Christians have been deluded by demons and have velieved in lies, but now, the Hare Krishna's are the only one's who TRULY understand the REAL teachings of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and everything else.

I never trust any one who claims to have exclusive knowledge. I never trust any philosophy that presumes to have the secret teachings, that have been kept from the pubilc so long. It's just pure presumption and arrogance.

ok lets clear this little matter up with 7 11 because i have seen you use this remark before..

now firstly do not take everything that every devotee says as gospel...

now as for acbsp the only thing prabhupada would criticize the cristians about was "thou shall not kill" but they kill animals and mostly cows which upset prabhupada, he never really said that much more about there philosophy except it was dry......so your remarks seem to suggest that he was trying to reveal the real understanding eeeeeerrrrrrrnnnnttttt wrong!!!!!!!! were does prabhupada ever get into long discussions in depth with christians about there philosophy.....never, only "thou shall not kill" hardly something to keep bringing up like some sought of drama queen, yes a.... DRAMA QUEEN....!!!!!!

stop raving on about nothing you DRAMA QUEEN..........

he is not challenging everything they stand for just one tenth of there commandments.......and the fact they call themselves a christian but do not follow there commandments, just as he would criticize devotees for not following there regulative principles....

Did it occur to some of that it is good to be able to show someone how chanting the holy names is the authorized process for God realization in this age from their own scriptures. Especially for those that live in Christian dominated countries. But of course it hasn't for even that little thing seems to be to broad for your self imposed comfort zones.

What that about Lord Caitanya using the Koran to convince some Muslim somewhere or something? Hmmm

First of all, Im not your buddy. Second, I know the devotee instructed to work on the christian angle personally, and I actually was there when the instruction was given. The trouble with some of yall, you think that Srila Prabhupada was hooked up to a computer program, but actually, he said a lot of things to a lot of disciples that were not recorded. I remember him telling a devotee to turn the recorder off once as well.

So, you are very challenging, which aint bad, but it can get in the way, especially when youve been given a proper answer. I clearly stated agreement with you in that Srila Prabhupada did not instruct his disciples to read the bible to get spiritual insight, but conver4sely, not all his disciples were on the same level, and some even had further instructions that did not involve the entire body of his disciples.

Satswarupa was not the devotee I was speaking of, BTW. Another early initiate who was a bible authority when he entered the movement in SF in 1967.

And to the 11-7 person, Lord Jesus remains intact and reveals Himself and His Father to the sincere, despite the criminality of the so-called christians thru the millenia.

The bible is severely flawed because of man's manipuilations, book burnings, etc. However, there are books that, while incomplete and partially destroyed, are stll somewhat intact as far as his teachings go. Personally, I became much more favorable to Lord Jesus, not by the bible at all, (I do not accept Saul of Tarsus as a pure representative of Lord Jesus, rather a proponant of religiosity is the name of Lord Jesus), but by extra biblical writings, such as Nag Hamadi and Kebra Nagast. I also have studied extensively various cultures whose worship of the Father as preached by Lord Jesus is and was followed. The Afarians of Ethiopia, the coptics, the gnostics, even the Cathars of France, have a devotional grip very similar to Vaisnavism. They all accept Mary as equal avatar to Lord Jesus, which all but catholics reject, and even catholics do not accept her as Israel (the wife of God). I also vehemently reject all those who consider the queen of Magdalia a sinful person, which is just nothing but perverted mysogeny created by the macho priests of the sun god, followers of King Constantine.

Anyway, there are literally thousands of texts available if one wants to study the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ. If one only wants a cheap religion, that is available and controlled by the demoniac King James, but Lord Jesus teaches an entirely different philosophy, which also contains a rudimentary version of acintya bheda bheda tattwa.

Anyway, haribol, ys, mahaksadasa

PS The bible approved by the council that created the canon has authentic bits and pieces, as these were compiled from the original texts written by Salome the midwife, Mary of Magdalia, Mother Mary and other scribes that recorded His activities as they happened, as well as his authentic teachings. Lord Jesus also wrote a gospel, known by the early christians as "Q", which was later edited into four gospels attributed to M, M, L, and J. I would never recommend that one read the bible alone. One must consult any scripture with guidance from Guru and the past acaryas for any authenticity. My christian teaching in childhood only produced an atheist, Srila Prabhupada made me a student of Lord Jesus Christ.

so you know about jesus and his teachings, still bores the hell out of me.......hahahahhaahha!!!! no offence each to there own.....

seems like a waste of time soughting through the . to find something worthy though...

i still stand by the fact that as vaishnava's we don't need jesus's teachings though but if it helps you then thats good for you.....

it's just the way everything is written in jumbled flowery phrases that hardly make sense, with no real knowledge or answers about the complicated questions about the creation and the intracacies of love of god.......even prabhupada said they know god created but they donnot know how.....

it is kindergarten knowledge compared to the srimad bhagavatam which is like university knowledge, why back peddle to that,

but if it helps you so be it.....

i am finished with this topic now ....adios amigos......
