Nirali
Found on news website: One week ago when the Sankat Mochan Temple at Varanasi was bombed by the followers of 'compassionate Islam', I used very parliamentary language and described the unprovoked attackers as Green Doves. Now comes the news about White Pigeons of Peace from Kota in Rajasthan. I am pained to note that a blasphemous book called 'HAQEEQAT' has been published in Rajasthan and that it has denigrated Hindu deities in a very uncivilized manner. Haqeeqat (The Reality), a substandard evangelical book in Hindi, written by M C Mathew, and published by Dr D M Thomas and Samuel Thomas of Emmanuel Literature Society, was a source of major tension in Kota, Rajasthan recently. The book contains many vulgar references to Lord Ram and Krishna, Hindu saints like Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Satya Sai Baba, Ma Amritanandamayi, Digambar Jain saints, in addition to objectionable reference to Ganga, Vande Mataram, and Arya Samaj, ISKCON etc. The book is subtitled as an analytical study of 'Bunch of Thoughts' by Guru Golwalkar. BJP and Shiv Sena members of the Lok Sabha brought the Parliament to a standstill. They requested the Government to come out with the facts. As expected, the pseudo-secular leaders of the Left and Congress Party, leaders who are famous for their attitude of 'LOVE ALL RELIGIOUS MINORITIES' and HATE ALL HINDUS in majority have questioned the timing of raising the matter in the immediate aftermath of the Varanasi blasts. These very pseudo-secular leaders maintained an attitude of stoic silence when the Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi was attacked by the terrorists. The attitude of leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Jothi Basu, Ram Vilas Paswan, etc. towards their ever-evolving and ever-revolving 'pseudo-secularism' can be summed up in the statement: 'Political trifles go to make the substance of pseudo-secularism. But pseudo-secularism is no trifle'. It is not therefore surprising that they are clutching at the self-chosen carcass of pseudo-secularism completely forgetting the spirit of 'true secularism'. The BJP Party's Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, has declared that he would not let the matter die as desired by the pseudo-secular men in the UPA Government and has stated: 'We will wait for the government's reaction to decide on the next step'. The Lok Sabha was adjourned abruptly on Thursday over the book allegedly published by a Christian missionary group that contained 'insulting remarks' against Hindu gods and goddesses. Raising the issue in the House during zero hour, Srichand Kriplani, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Kota, said the Emmanuel Mission, functioning in Kota, Rajasthan had been selling the book 'Haqeeqat', written by MJ Mathew, in which Lord Krishna, Goddess Saraswati and other Hindu gods had been maligned. The MP demanded a countrywide ban on the book, the arrest of its author and publisher and the closure of the publishing institution which he claimed was involved in 'anti-national activities'. Kripalani even tried to table the book, which was a Hindi translation of the English original, but was disallowed by the Speaker. It is reported that they Emmanuel Mission operating from Kota in Rajasthan for the past 21 years. In the past it has been accused of trying to convert people to Christianity. A Minister of Uttar Pradesh government who recently announced as a Taliban Terrorist a contract-killing money of Rs. 51 crores has been left undisturbed in his constitutional office. The 'anxieties´ and 'concerns´ of Christian community in Dang in Gujarat over Shabri Kumbh festival got the pride of prime space and place in the national media. But the outrage against scurrilous evangelical literature in Kota, Rajasthan against sacred Hindu Gods and Goddesses has virtually evaded nation's notice ably assisted and abetted by the mafia of mass media on the one hand and the pseudo-secular bosses in the parliament and Government in New Delhi on the other. At a time when the Muslims of India went up in arms for cartoons on Prophet Mohammed published by Jyellands-Posten in Denmark, Parliament condemned the cartoons. The editor of Senior India who had published them was arrested, and Muslim protest rallies were allowed to ventilate their ire on chosen Hindu shops in Hyderabad and the BJP office in Lucknow. I may not be wrong in concluding that both our Government in New Delhi and Parliament are there only to uphold the voice of minorities and the contemptible political cause of summary rejection of the voice of majority. On page 100 of the blasphemous book 'Haqeeqat' there are mischievous comments about Sri Ram: 'Ram´s wife Sita was taken away. She was left in forest according to wish of Ram. Later Ram permitted Laxman to kill Sita. This Laxman was defeated in fight by Ram, and later Ram disgusted with his life drowned himself in Saryu. All this happened with advice, consent and religious belief of half-naked sadhus of Hindutva'. On p.269 it says: 'In modern world many Ramas of this belief are living carefree. They marry several times, desert their wives, and leave them. Many Ramas kill their Sitas. They are following their god Rama.' On p.182-183 there are blasphemous comments about Arya Samaj which can make your blood boil: 'How could Arya Hindus bring Aryanisation on this earth. To be Arya, one has to be born in Arya womb. If Arya Hindus want to bring Aryanisation then they will must lend or rent out all Arya wombs to non-Aryans. Non-Aryans should be given Brahmin women so that children are born from Brahmin womb'. Only our pseudo-secular Government and Parliament will view these observations in this book as constitutional and secular, reflecting the urges, hopes and aspirations of those in minority! Balbir K Punj, Rajya Sabha MP and Convenor of BJP's think tank has given an effective and civilised (non-saffronised, truly secular!) rejoinder to M C Mathew and his friends: 'In Gospel, according to St Matthew (12:47-48) when a disciple of Jesus informs him that his mother and brother have come to meet him, Jesus says 'who is my mother, and who are my brethren'. In Western countries most parents end their life in old age homes, left by their children. One might then say, they owe their inspiration from Jesus, who refused to acknowledge his mother and brother, once he got popularity. Jesus himself has never said he was son of God, but always son of Man. To install Jesus as son of God was the work of First Council of Nicea held in 325 CE. But Hindus have never leveled such scurrilous charges against Jesus. Is this not enough to prove who is acting godly and who otherwise?' About the national song Vande Mataram 'Haqeeqat says: 'For India the only use of Sanskrit is by Hindutvawadis to sing Vande Mataram.' Perhaps for men like Mathew, Dr D M Thomas and Samuel Thomas, Vande Mataram is a blasphemous song. Perhaps it may be so even for some of the pseudo-secular elements at the highest levels of governance in New Delhi! But for millions and millions in India Vande Mataram is a wonderful hymn to Mother India, even Universal Motherhood, which is also enshrined in our Constitution as national song. Long after petty and small human beings like Sonia Gandhis, Arjun Singhs, Lalu and Mulayam Singh Yadavs, Paswans, and Somnath Chatterjees have gone into an ineluctable oblivion, the name of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and his immortal song Vande Mataram shall continue to reverberate across centuries for all time to come.
