Sringeri Seer offers Rs. 2 Crore ornament to Lord Venkateswara

The 36th Pontiff of Sringeri Dakshimanya Sarada Peetham, Sri Bharathi

Theertha Swamy has made an offering of a diamond studded arm cover worth

about Rs.2 crore to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near here today.

Temple sources told Tirupatitimes.com that the seer also offered a pair

of Thirumangalyams to the processional idols of Sri Padmavathi and Sri

Lakshimi for use during celestial marriage performed daily at the hill

temple.

It may be recalled that the Kanchi Shankaracharya, Jeyendra Saraswathi

accompanied by his junior, Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi had donated a

golden crown studded with 180 carats of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and

other precious stones, total weighing about 11.5 kg to Lord Venkateswara

on October 1, 2004.

also recently heard that a famous Indian actor, Amitabh Bachan, has recently donated diamond jewelerry (maybe a crown?) to Lord Vanketeswara worth Rs. 10 Crore (for having his operation be a success)

And I wonder about the need for a Mutt Swamiji to offer millions of rupees worth of jewelery to another organization which is already overflowing with wealth.

These are no more than political activities targetted to appease egos and flaunt wealth.

Anyway, it is not his own earned money. So what does he care?
