Can anybody who knows sanskrit tell me? punah janma—rebirth; na—never; vidyate—takes to. == I am aware of dual-compound words in Sanskrit. Can the 'na' be changed to something else to change the meanings? Or has anybody done so? Can the 'na' be changed to maybe or possible or yes. ? What does 'na' usually mean? Na also means 'nor. I really need to know this. Thx! But there are variations, like which word is it refering to, etc. There will always be a crazy person who refuses to take the direct meaning and tries to force some other meaning in a simple sentence. I was looking at it from the point of view of a Karmi or Karma-yoga 'Bhakta'. I cannot really see how you can deny this verse since they want to attain some planet. But here it says 'punah janma—rebirth; na—never; vidyate—takes to'. I know Impersonalists will take a different meaning out of this verse. But can KARMIS? That's what I really need to know. Yoga indicates to link, so karma yoga is when one has linked to Krishna through his works. In one sense it refers to offering the results of one's actions to Krishna, and in another it refers to specifically acting for Krishna. Karma on its own refers more to punya-karma, or pious activities for attaining material results. This is criticized throughout the Gita by Lord Krishna as the action of foolish people. Gita 7.23 antavat tu phalaḿ teṣāḿ tad bhavaty alpa-medhasām devān deva-yajo yānti mad-bhaktā yānti mām api TRANSLATION Men of small intelligence worship the demigods, and their fruits are limited and temporary. Particulary this one: Bg.7.20 Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures. Do they accept demi-gods? This verse uses devatah—demigods. Is it possible to intrepretate this verse [ONLY THIS VERSE] in an Impersonalistic way.? Right now I need a 'Bhagavad-gita Guide!'.
