shelley
Hello, I am slightly confused on the law of karma in relation to the Hare krishna movement. Is it energy that returns to us by our actions in a former life or by are actions in this life? Kind of what comes around goes around? Or is karma simply a choice in relation to our learning experience here on earth to get closer to God, as the spiritualist religion implies? Just wondering what your thoughts are on this subject please. Blessings, Shelley.
Dwayne
Karma is cause and effect. You do something pious, you'll get a pious reaction, and impious, a impious reaction. The results of your karma comes through in your next life - it helps determine what body you get and the life you have in that body. A true materialist for example doesn't just aim to be happy in this life, he also does pious activities so he can enjoy in future lives. Guest guest
Karma is exactly what you think it is : "what goes around, comes around" Karma can take fruit in this current life as well as in furture lives. Some actions have quick reactions, whilst others may catch up to you in future births. As devotees of Krishna, we strive to free ourselves from both good and bad karma. A true devotee is not interested in the fruits of his good actions, but he still avoids the bad actions so that his devotion to Krishna is not hindered. Also, a devotee will gladly accept any bad karma and take it as a blessing form Krishna. -Hare Krishna
