Joriain
Isn't Shannon pronounced the way it is written? I thought so too but some people say it as Sha' naan. Could you also help me with the hindi spelling of it also. Many thanks Avinash; as I need it for a card. Thanks
Avinash
How Shannon (or any word) is written in Hindi depends on how it is pronounced because Hindi is a phonetic language. I am assuming that Shannon is written the way it is pronounced. If you need Shannon in Hindi for a different pronunciation, then tell me the pronunciation and I will give Hindi text for that pronunciation. But, for now, Shannon in Hindi as it is pronounced:- Note: You have written that you need it for a card. Will you write Shannon in Hindi in that card manually? Avinash
drkpp, You have written Shannon differently. In fact the correct representation in Devanagiri depends on how Shannon is pronounced. We both have assumed that sh is pronounced like sh in shower. I have assumed joint sound nn. You have assumed a single n sound. I have assumed that o is pronounced like o in no. You have assumed that o is pronounced like first o in doctor. Which of the two is correct of course depends on the correct pronunciation.

Avinash
Oh yeah, sorry, its pronounced Elli (or Elly) May I am assuming that i in Elli (or y in Elly) is pronounced like ee in see? I am also assuming that May is pronounced like the month May. If my assumptions are correct, then Ellie Mai should be written as follows:-

Avinash
Hi could anyone please tell me how to translate (write) Brendon in Devanagiri its for a tottoo. Thnk you If don in brendon is pronounced like the English word "done", then the Devanagiri representation is as drkpp has written. But if it is pronounced like english word 'don', then it will be a little different.

ebo6778
You are so helpful to everyone that has written you, hopefully you can do the same for me. I want to get a tattoo this weekend of my two sons names on my left wrist but I cannot find anyone to translate their names to the Sanskrit script that I want. PLEASE HELP! Their names are: Julian and Evan Any help would be greatly appreciated!! <!-- / message -->
Avinash
I am assuming 'Ju' in 'julian' is pronounced like 'ju' in 'july, 'li' as 'li' in 'list', 'a' as 'ya' in 'William', and n is quite obvious (e.g. n in Sun). I am assuming 'E' in 'Evan' is pronounced like 'e' in 'egg', 'van' like 'vaan' (i.e. with long 'a' sound). Or, do you think 'van' is pronounced like 'one'? Based on my above assumption, I am giving Julian and Evan in Hindi below. If your pronouce your sons' names differently, let me know and I will make the necessary corrections.
