Guest guest
Dear Swamiji, I define it as commitment. Then we can bend according as the situation warrants but will not break. Yours thoughts anyone ? Guest guest
I believe the most important attribute of a spiritual seeker is Faith. In Portuguese we have an expression for when things go not as planned...."God writes straight through crooked lines." We may not always understand, but we must always trust God and Guru. Guest guest
I feel the most important attribute of a spiritual seeker is READINESS. "He who hath ears, let him listen." If one isn't ready to hear the next message, to take the next step, one will not. If seeking is like climbing a mountain, one will not go very far without having the proper climbing tools for overcoming whatever obstacles will come on the climb. Faith is like one's safety rope, love is like one's climbing skill. When one is ready, tools will be picked up and learned as one climbs. When one is ready, one makes the commitment to leave behind the comforts and desires of civilization and enter into the wilderness of climbing and seeking. When one is ready, one is staring up at the very summit of realization -- but can't get there because that heavy pack of tools, that bit of clothing that is caught on a branch -- won't let one reach the summit. And when one is ready, one removes all the burdens and coverings and take the last steps, completely naked as a newborn baby...until finally upon the summit, the cold winds, the snow and the expansive, all-encompassing view from the top blow one off the mountain back to peace. When one is ready... >From basecamp, I bow to all the mountain-climbers! Guest guest
Hello Swamiji- Sorry for the back up in discussion but I had to go back to the being of this thread. > What is the most important attribute of a spiritual seeker? This was hard for me to decide because I came up with two: Reflection (S/self examination) or Devotion. If I had to choose one it would be Reflection because I beleive and try to live by the old saying "a life lived unexamined is no life" (sorry for the poor paraphrasing) Jai Ma Marsha , "swami_satyanandasaraswati" <swami_satyanandasaraswati> wrote: > What a wonderful seva to the Divine Mother, to provide a forum for distributing > spiritual knowledge. > > What is the most important attribute of a spiritual seeker?
