Guest guest
In the Guru Gita it is said that the Guru is actually the Supreme Divinity. All of us will have many Gurus in our life starting with our parents. The Guru is manifest anywhere that learning takes place. At a point when we focus our spiritual search, and when the time is right, the Supreme Divinity will come to us in the form of a person who can bring us to the next level in our path. This is the same Guru that has lead us for our entire life but in a more concentrated form. I happen to live with two Gurus at the Devi Mandir Ashram and I consider them both to be my Guru but I don't see the force inside them that guides my life as two. It is clearly one Supreme Divinity manifested in two people.
Guest guest
What do we expect to learn from our guru's..?? Our inner is often structured in what we expect to learn, we talk about levels.... related to level prescriptions..... when I see the world.. I see the levels of qualities mixed up in the many constitution of the inner of people... in order to transform and give positive impulses to a life situation setup with individuals.. where normally an Indian guru with a orange dres might not be able to enter... the bigest are among the lowest and it won't be easy to regocnize them... everything is mixed up as far I can see it.. The guru impulses comes in many forms and constitutions of people on the different levels of life society... example: a drug adicted person on a havy low society level might not easily except an advice of a guru with a orange dress, but might except a good advice of somebody who smokes a maruhana sigaret with him....and speaks on his level/ his language.. Please don't misunderstand this message its not a advertisement for drugsuse.. I don't smoke and drink my self.. Guest guest
Namaste Mira, A profound foundation in philosophical view is essential for embarking wholeheartedly on a path of sadhana. In addition to philosophical view, one should have a living example who embodies that view. Part of the philosophical foundation is that you are an illusion, and that is hard to work with because it goes contrary to your experience. A living example who embodies personhood freed from illusion can reflect back to you the potential which you represent. That is pure potential. Guest guest
Sarada: what more can anyone add to what you said? thinking about what a Guru is after Swamiji's question, it came to my mind that the Guru is one and the same wity Kali, She Who Takes Away the Darkness...and that those among us blessed to have a physical Guru or Gurus probably have a little more insurance against spiritual pride...there's nothing like the example of a self-realized soul to remind us of how far we have to go. Guest guest
follow up... I agree with you about "stomach" feelings too Kelly... There's another gem from the Guru Gita which I read from the book, "In Danger Remember Me" (written by Swami Shuddananda Brahmachari about the famous SatGuru Bhagawan Sri Baba Lokenath-- For those of you who know the pictures at Devi Mandir, in the one corner towards the back and opposite the entry door, there is a little picture of a famous Yogi named, Trailangya Swami-- who had spent some time caring for Baba Lokenath during his earlier years). It goes: "Mad Guru shree jagadguru"--my Guru is the Universal Master. You have to have the most single pointed devotion to your Master, but you should also keep the heart open to receive the light from all the Illumined Ones. (and I think this statement applies so well to our One Beloved Shree Maa and SWami Ji) -- "For beyond the plane on the material body, they are One in the Ulitmate ground of pure consciousness." Also, Thanks for the reply Ardis... I actually had been blessed to meet Shree Maa and Swami Ji when I was told by various friends about Devi Mandir. Then one day I received that cosmic/divine inspiration to review the website and just became enraptured about the "Two as One" or our own local "Ardhanariswhara" After emailing Nitya Ma about coming up one day. My family I drove up for the beginning of an incredible blissful journey... Blessings.. - Kelly Leeper Tuesday, October 14, 2003 9:56 PM Re: The Guru(s) Sarada, I get feelings in the stomach when I hear the Truth. I feel this was right on.
