Guest guest
Can you share your favorite verses from the Chandi , Rudri or others. I love chapter 3 from Rudri - Soldiers from Indra's army fighting our asuras within. Especially line 12, "Amisham cittam .... sacantaam". Swamiji has translated this as "If you are tempted by the objects of unfavorable unconsciousness, then put an end to their manifestations. If you try to accept them, you must go to them. You must see the confusion they bring to your heart and resist union with the intensity of their darkness ". That line strikes a chord - everytime negativity creeps up inside me . I have gone along with it and despaired in darkness. Now I am learning to be more vigilant , I see the confusion that the negativity brings to my heart and resist union with the intensity of their darkness. Indra , may you and your army emerge victorious.

In CHAPTER 8 we recite many of Rudra's divine characteristics that are within us.If we meditate deeply upon this chapter we will find that all of creation exists within us. EX: VERSE 5 Truth is within me, and faith is within me, and the world is within me, and wealth is within me, and the universe is within me, and sacrfice is within me, and play is within me, and joy is within me, and all beings born are within me, and all creatures are within me, and hymns are within me, and excellent acts are within me, by means of sacrifice I conceive that all is within me. In CHAPTER 9 we ask for peace and offer peace to all of creation. EX: VERSE 1 May my voice be the expression of hymns. May my mind be filled with sacrifice. May my breath be the expression of divine songs. May my eyes and ears and other senses be filled with divine vibrations. may my inflowing breath be equal to my outflowing breath. VERSE 2 Whatever deficiency fills my eyes, my heart, my mind, oh Guru of the Gods, Spirit of Vast, please remove from me. May the Lord of the earth grant peace and bliss to us. VERSE 18 Bless us with consistency. May all living beings see us through the eyes of friendship. May we also see all living beings through the eyes of friendship. May all beings see all existence through the eyes of friendship. VERSE 22 Wherever, whenever, we show respect, then and there you grant us freedom from fear. Give us peace and bliss, to all beings born, freedom from fear to us and to all animals, to all that lives. I love chapter 3 from Rudri - Soldiers from Indra's army fighting our > asuras within. Guest guest
Verse 4 from the Kilaka stotram in the Chandi. "Na mantro .....sarvam uccatanadikam" Swami translates this as "There is no mantra, no medicine, nor anything else known, by which indifference to all can be attained without REPEATED APPLICATION " Dear Maa and Swami, Please bless me to keep these lines in mind when I "dont feel like" doing my daily practice. Bless me to fight the most dangerous opponent against sadhana -myself. Thank you for this forum - it is clarifying my goal and sub-goals. Guest guest
My favorite sloka from the Chandi is in chapter 3 verse 38: garja garja ksanam mudha madhu yaavat pibaamyaham mayaa tvayi hate-traiva garjisyantyasu devataah "Roar and roar, you fool! For so long as I drink this spirit, roar so much as you like. Your death is in my hands, and when I have finished drinking, soon the Gods will be roaring!" When I chant it I can feel the Goddess laughing loudly as She gets ready to annihilate the thoughts...so powerful. Chandi Ma ki jai! Guest guest
Those are beautiful lines . Thank you Parvati for sharing them. Here is another one that appeals to me - verse 18 from the Tantroktam Devi Suktam in the Chandi. "Ya Devi sarva bhutesu Sraddha rupena Samsthitha" Swamiji translates as "She who resides in all existence in the form of FAITH". To which I will add - in my native language "sraddha" also means "SINCERITY" . I bow to Her who resides in every sincere thought/word/deed. I bow to Her again and again and again. , "parvati_saraswati" <parvati_saraswati> wrote: > , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> > wrote: > > Can you share your favorite verses from the Chandi , Rudri or > > others. > > >Latha, > Two of my favorite chapters from the Rudraastadyaayii translated and > transliterated by Swami Satyananda Saraswati are Chapter 8 and 9. > > In CHAPTER 8 we recite many of Rudra's divine characteristics that > are within us.If we meditate deeply upon this chapter we will find > that all of creation exists within us. > > EX: VERSE 5 > Truth is within me, and faith is within me, and the world is within > me, and wealth is within me, and the universe is within me, and > sacrfice is within me, and play is within me, and joy is within me, > and all beings born are within me, and all creatures are within me, > and hymns are within me, and excellent acts are within me, by means > of sacrifice I conceive that all is within me. > > In CHAPTER 9 we ask for peace and offer peace to all of creation. > EX: VERSE 1 > May my voice be the expression of hymns. Guest guest
Last night in studying one chapter one in the Chandi, there was one verse (81st shloka) that caught me in particular: You bear the conch of vibrations, and the bow of determination, (and other weapons that tear, stab, render or smash) You are mild and gentle and the ultimate of attractiveness and incomparable beauty. Brahma (the ability to create within us all) is praising the Divine Mother as Yoganidra (the one keeping Consciousness in sleep--with Her, in divine union) in order to wake up that Vishnu within us to deal with the demons of Too Much and Too Little (which create imbalance and attachment)-- As in the Rudrastadyai, our creative capacity sings praises to that Divine Mother within us, so to speak; And here, we/I praise all the weapons she has to slay the demons of the ego, of separateness-- fierce and frightening weapons (her aspect as Ghoraa), and also gentleness and incomparable beauty! There is a similar phrase elsewhere in the Chandi which speaks of One who is incredibly fierce and also incredibly gentle all at the same time. Shree Maa has said that the ego is so subtle and changeable and sneaky, with an enormous, perhaps an infinite number of forms, who knows what form it will take in our own self-deception? Who knows what we will need to call upon in our surrender to her? >From the Divine perception or perspective, there is no limit; she will offer anything that is needed to attend to the forces of delusion. And also, how do we fall in love with That, with Her? Her beauty is beyond compare, and beyond description; in recognizing that, we melt, even our ego begins to melt ( of course, there, the story continues in the next couple of episodes). , "parvati_saraswati" < parvati_saraswati> wrote: > , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> > wrote: > > Can you share your favorite verses from the Chandi , Rudri or > > others. Guest guest
Here is another verse - Chapter 4 , verse 11 from the Chandi that is helpful to me. I like this because - as a spiritual aspirant and also as a person who enjoys being the world, I am constantly struggling to find a balance or tip the scale towards spirituality. It is very difficult - with all my passions dragging me to one side, and one weak lonely feeble voice calling me to the other. Oh mother with the "two-cat garage" :-) as claimed elsewhere in this message board, please help me. "medhasi devi .... krta pratistha" "Oh Goddess, you are the energy of intelligence by which the essence of all scriptures is understood. As the Goddess Who Relieves Afflictions, YOU ARE THE BOAT WHICH TAKES ASPIRANTS ACROSS THE DIFFICULT SEA OF WORLDLY THOUGHTS UNBOUND BY ATTACHMENT. You manifest as the Goddess of Welath in the heart of Consciousness to DO BATTLE WITH THE DESIRES OF WANT , and as the Goddess of Light to Lord Siva who wears the moon as a diadem" I dont want to miss your boat Maa.
