Guest guest
Maa always teaches that cleanliness is next to godliness. She is not only referring to our exterior and physical environment but our inner world as well. There are many different types of characters that exist within each human being and these characters keep us from realizing our true nature which is divine. Those inner characters are known as: Devoid of Clear Understanding,Fickleness, Haughtiness, the Great Deceiver, Want of Resolution, Memories, Wandering To and Fro, Hypocrisy, Arrogance, Violent Temper, Passion, Anger, Meaness Irrisstible Temptation, Foul Mouth, Anxiety, Blindness, Sinful Eyes, Self-Conceit, Self-Deprecation, Seed of Desire, Agitated Awareness, the Great Frustration, Too Much, Too Little. In order to clean our inner house we must keep a spiritual discipline. The more we clean the more we shine until we realize who is really the master of our house. God is not far away. Happy cleaning! Guest guest
Hi Parvati, My mother would often say that to me, about cleanliness and godliness, but I never understood so clearly what that might mean until I became absorbed in Chandi; many people might ask, "well just how do I clean?" Lots of generals in that Ego army, as you just listed, and most of us can relate. But seems like LOTS. My first thought was that intially, just to recognize---see all these characters within ourselves--not to project onto others, but to see inside us, well, there they are! After recognition can be discrimination; Shree Maa has sometimes suggested we spend just a little time in the evening before bed looking at our day and the knowledge we obtained and what we might want to do differently; when you begin to discriminate, oh yes that was Anxiety, that was Devoid of Clear Understanding, and so on, then you are witnessing, not judging (which only brings in Self Deprecation or Self Conceit, then more things to clean...) With the witnessing you begin to see more of who you really are--you are not these generals, but you are the witness and the catalyst for change. Recognizing, discriminating and witnessing--I believe are the beginnings, the roots, towards bringing Shiva consciousness into our everyday lives, and learning more who we really are.
