Guest guest
Namaste, What are samputs? I also read this in another post about chanting something with Shiva samputs. Is this fencing the shlokas with the mulamantra or bijas? Is it possible to give an example? Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Samputs are mantras that are used before and after each shloka for example. >From the Chandi Path, Chapter 1 verse 1 and 2. Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce, Sarvarnih suryatanayo yo manuh kathyate-shtamah nisamaya tadutpattim vistarad gadato mama, Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce, Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce mahamaya nubhavena yatha manvantaradhipah sa babhuva maha bhagah savarnistanayo raveh Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce So there is a mantra added before and after each verse. Each samput is used for a different Siddhi. The samput could be anything from Om or Hrim to a hundred lettered mantra depending on how long you can sit and what sadhana your Guru has given you. I know that Swami Satyananda has told us that we should be able to chant the entire Chandi Path in one asana before bebinning to add sumputs but it may be different for other texts. , "Rolando Santos" <sivadancer> wrote: > Namaste, > > What are samputs? Guest guest
Namaste Rolando, You got it! It is fencing in the slokas, but it doesn't have to be a bija mantra. It can be any mantra. My expereince with the Guru Gita was with Om namah Sivayah as a samput, chanted before and after every sloka. In the Sunda Kanda book, translated by Swamiji, He gives a whole list of them. Go with what feels right. Jai Maa, Gauri , "Rolando Santos" <sivadancer> wrote: > Namaste, > > What are samputs? I also read this in another post about chanting > something with Shiva samputs.
