Guest guest
I have a copper Shiva yantra and a small sphatik (quartz) Shivalingam. To consecrate or activate these, is it okay to activate them at the same time? In other words, can I set the small Shivalingam on the center of the copper Shiva yantra and activate them simultaneously in one ritual? Has anyone here ever used a metal yantra as an object of worship? Any experiences anyone would like to share on this? Astraea
Guest guest
I have a question to add to this one. I also wuld like to know about yantra worship and my question is: Is worshiping a Yantra the same as worshiping a Murti or a Lingam casue don;t they all represent the form of the divine? or is Yantra worship more powerful? Guest guest
Dear Astrea, I just placed a small quartz Shivalingam on the altar, too. I placed it on a very small rubber band (the kind you use for cornrow braids) as I didn't have anything like sand or flat stone, etc. So the Shivalingam sits in the Yoni. I'm sure others out there have more knowledge of this, but it feels right to me to leave the Lingam on the Yoni during sadhana. Guest guest
Also Astrea, I've seen a metal yantra on my teacher's altar and I understand it to represents Shiva in You, your Self. You can make offerings to it of flowers, light, incense and know that it respresents the ever-present All in you. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Hi Lynne! Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. Yes, you are right, the Shivalingam normally sits on the yoni during puja (or any other time for that matter). The Shiva yantra is not the same thing as the yoni. The particular type of quartz Shivalingam I have is carved already sitting in its yoni. While doing another kind of puja last night, the answer to my question came to me spontaneously: it's alright to activate the Shivalingam and the Shiva Yantra at the same time during the same ritual. However, the Shivalingam should NOT be sitting on the Shiva Yantra. They should be side by side. So one is feeding them ghee, yoghurt, honey, tumeric, flowers, etc. at the same time. The activation ritual is very important and needs to be done as correctly as possible according to scripture. Guest guest
Namaste Aaron, I don't have a real answer for your question. I intuitively FEEL that the yantras are more powerful than the murtis or other symbols, but I may be wrong, maybe that's just me. I can tell you that since I recently got an activated Maha Ganapathy (Ganesha) Yantra, my Ganesha mantras feel more powerful. This may be because the Ganesha Yantra is amplifying the power of the Ganesha mantras, OR it could be because I've been touched by Shree Maa's spiritual current reading the Chandi. I don't know, but something has changed! Astraea , Skud Thirteen <skud_13> wrote: > Namaste > I have a question to add to this one. Guest guest
Hi Aaron, Some more interesting things I've discovered about Yantras: One of the reasons that quartz (sphatik) yantras & murtis are prized is because clear, colorless quartz represents the Nirguna Brahman or the attributeless Supreme Self or the God without form. But there's more: according to Pandit Tigunait, the reason gold , quartz (& gemstones) are so prized for Yantras & murtis is because of they way gold & quartz (& copper) hold vibrations. All of these materials have peculiar properties in respect to electricity. Gold is either the finest (? or one of the finest) conductors of electricity. It does not corrode. Piezoelectric quartz is one of the building blocks of modern RF (radio frequency) RTs (receiver-transmitters). Gold & Quartz will hold vibrations much longer than copper. Aasan or Asana Yantras are placed under the asana of the meditator or pujari. These Yantras are also placed in the foundations, not only of temples, but houses & other buildings. Asana Yantras are placed under murtis in temples. Interesting. Astraea , Skud Thirteen <skud_13> wrote: > Namaste > I have a question to add to this one.
