Guest guest
It says in the Chandi Path that the eighth, ninth, and fourteenth, days are auspicious for the Chandi recitation. Monday is good for Shiva, Tuesday for Hanuman and Kali, Wednesday for Vishnu, Thursday and Friday are auspicious for Lakshmi and Saturday for Hanuman. Also the fourth day of the lunar calendar is for Ganesh. There are probably an infinite number of philosophies on this subject and in reality everyday is auspicious for the Devi so I do the Puja everyday. , "Aaron" <skud_13> wrote: > Namaste, > what is a good day for Devi Puja? Guest guest
Hi Aaron, That's a good question. Which Devi? For Lakshmi, Fridays are traditional. Friday is owned by Venus in just about any tradition. Lakshmi is the goddess who rules Venus. If you were activating a Sri Chakra yantra, the puja would have to start during the hour owned by the Deity, in this case, MahaLakshmi. The hour that starts with sunrise is ruled by the ruler of the day. So on Friday, Venus (and Lakshmi) rules the hour that begins with sunrise. (I get the time of sunrise from a Cable TV station that runs continuous weather info.) I also have a MahaKali yantra (used to protect one against evil sorcery & black magic, among other things) and when it comes time for me to consecrate this, I will probably do it at sunrise on a Saturday. Saturdays are NOT auspicious for most types of ritual, because it's owned by Saturn, the Greater Malefic. However, Saturn is ruled by the goddess Kali and in the case of a MahaKali yantra quite appropriate. Incidently, I do MahaLakshmi puja (MahaLakshmi Ashtakam & Sri Suktam) everyday and at different times of the day or night. To this, I have added one mala of "Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha" and one mala of the Savitri Gayatri. I am about to start a simple Ganesha Gayatri vrat (33 reps of the Ganesha Gayatri for 33 days). Venus (ruled by Lakshmi) is my "guardian angel" according to Vedic astrology. Venus rules my Ascendant, Moon, Navamsha and is exalted -- Venus everywhere in my chart. Venus is the Guru of Demons.
